Hey all! I'm getting ready for the delivery of my Spanish militia from the Blood and Plunder kickstarter and decided I need to get some terrain for them to defend against dastardly pirate raiders.

I built and painted up some Brigade Games buildings and have some thoughts on my blog. Thought you might be interested!

Looks good. May need some of those.

Hi J Sears
I have all the buildings also including the big church which I think is no longer available(not 100% sure though) The buildings themselves are attractive(very nice paint job) but the warpage was considerable. Only recommended if your prepared to do a fair amount of correction.

I think you're far too generous in your review of what a pain in the ass these kits are to put together. A friend of mine has these and I couldn't repeat most of what he said here.

They look great.

Church is still available.

The stable roof should not have been warped. That is from the caster pulling it too early from a mold. But it actually looks good nonetheless.

Any warpage is easily solved with a hot water soak, a towel and a heavy book. This is on my hobby tips page on my site.

Cyrus. I don't think I ever heard an issue from your friend but since I am in the dark I am not sure. We have solved issues we needed to when they come up.

We do recommend some putty for touching up joints and using an epoxy with some flex as this will help if you drop them on the floor.

I'm interested in the long grass in the rear of your shot. What are you using?

Those look awesome, and you went above and beyond to get them that way – indeed, beyond reason. :-)

Very well done, sir.

Thanks guys.

I was initially pretty annoyed with the warpage, but it was only the smaller kit that suffered to such a great degree, and honestly the dremel, 1-2-3 blocks, putty and glue solved all my issues. Are the other buildings discontinued? I'm hoping to expand the collection if possible.

The long grasses are fake plants from Michael's craft store. I think they are supposed to go in small flower pots or planters or something. Cheap and useful.

None of the buildings are discontinued and I am not sure where you are getting that information.

Not directed at you Lon, but my friend knows when pieces are pulled out early and other sources of warpage and that the caster is to blame. Me, I place my faith in a hair dryer.

Cyrus

Never used a hair dryer but that is a great suggestion.

And yeah I realize it is the casters fault.

Looks great!
