For miniature wargaming purposes, do you acquire new or used dental tools? |
Joes Shop | 09 Dec 2016 1:59 p.m. PST |
Yes, have a small collection. |

Only to extract information from the recalcitrant. |

I get some from the dentist ever cleaning. They have a drawer of defective tools for the taking. |

Yes – part of my sculpting kit. Tony |

I don't really "collect" them, but have purchased and used them in the past. I think "collecting" them is a separate hobby. |

I got some while working for a dental dealer. I seldom use them but probably should use them more for cleaning figs before priming. |

I have quite a few. I bought a few but also have some from a girl friend that was a dental hygienist. I use them for rudimentary sculpting. |

My hygienist, a long time friend of the wife, gave me more than I ever could use. |

Have pondered this idea, but thought about asking for some of my dentists cast offs but wasn't sure if its possible. Some of those fine drill points would come in handy. I did inquire about his magnifier but he was sure I couldn't afford it. |

I have a set of manual dental tools. They are good for sculpting and shaping polymers as well as painting fine points and pinstripes. |

Is it safe? Beat me to it! And yes, i have a growing collections of dental tools that pull double duty for wargame/modeling and cleaning firearms. |

Is it safe? Not 100% positive, but I think they have to clean /sterilize them before discarding, otherwise it's human waste and brings a whole lot of regulatory headaches. Oh, and yes, I've got some. |
Winston Smith | 09 Dec 2016 7:47 p.m. PST |
There's a reason the dentists don't let you take home infected teeth with you. They are not safe. |

My father in law was the senior dental clinician for the Public Health Service. After he died, I snagged some of his tools from their garage. Now when I use them, I think of him. |

It's a safe, but I don't have the combination. Do have a few of the tools, but never followed up with the plans of sculpt/conversions. Doug Edit: As for the second question, I have bought new, but on closer inspection, they're crap from boot shows. Ones from the doctor MUCH better. |

Boil them and they're safe. That's the way they used to do it, before disposable everything became the norm. |
