I'm planning to get into the Team Yankee game, thinking of getting Soviets, British and West Germans. How does the figures compare between Battlefront and QRF? My only experience with figures from either company is the plastic figures from BF's Open Fire FoW set. EDIT: just noticed Armies Army also have figures suitable for TY too, so please add them in the discussion also! |

Don't forget Khurasan and Zvezda are also options. Love the TY plastics. The resin and metal models are not as detailed as the plastics but are comparable to what we've seen in similar FOW models. I haven't gotten models from the other manufacturers so can't comment on them, sorry. |

I don't like plastic kits. Plus I like the substance that goes along with metal so I go with QRF. |

The infantry from Khurasan are excellent, as are the tanks. |

I'm talking about the infantry, not the vehicles. |

In my opinion the BF are far and away the best. Now keep mind that the BF models don't appear to be strictly "15 mm" or 1:100. I know they make some things over sized so they'll look better. I have a number of QRF models and their infantry. The vehicles are ok, but at least the ones I have (T-64, Chieftain, FV432, Scimitar, MTLB) don't have detail as crisp as that of BF. I cannot recommend QRF's infantry which, to be honest, are very crude sculpts. |

Armies army are great figures. Slightly chunkier that FOW but are meant to be in winter gear. Not Arctic just winter. Has Some things not made by FOW like OP parties. |

Battlefront figures are very dynamic in their poses and a bit on the "chunky" side. They have sort of a comic book look which I really enjoy. QRF figures are great too. Less variety maybe but they have a lot of figures you won't find elsewhere and they look very natural on a table top. Khurasan has great detail but they tower over my QRF figures. I wouldn't use them unless they were the only source of infantry for you. |

I like the Armies Army figures very much. Keith has lots of new stuff, both figures and vehicles in the pipeline. In addition Oddsy Osmial Poles are very nice, and Old Glory UK 15mm Falklands range Brits are very nice and would fit with most things. Personally, some of Battlefronts poses and figure selections leave a lot to be desired. The ubiquitous walking LMG gunners outnumber the prone gunners, none of whom have a No 2. Some crew served weapons such as Milan don't have a dedicated loader figure, just a kneeling rifleman as No2. (5 out of 9 in the British Milan box). Oddly, the two British SF GPMG's have different loaders, one prone, one kneeling, go figure? as you continental cousins say. Incidentally the Prone loader would make an excellent No2 for the prone GPMG gunner. I got my first US Mech Pltn today, the figures are a bit small of stature, I think, compared to the other nationalities and are very flashy. Makes you wonder why Battlefront don't canvas their customers about preferred poses etc Ok, not everyone will want the same, but it would them a flavour of what we like. |

No M60s for the US troops either, with BF. sadly. |

If you are talking figures/QRF over BF for me. AA look nice but I haven't seen them in the flesh, or in the lead rather. Fatman |

Oh and O8's Poles are great. Fatman |

GHQ. They look great, easier to store and you can get many more troops for the same $ |

Are the Eureka 15mm Russians good for the Team Yankee period, or are they for the Chechen conflict? link |
Weasel | 10 Dec 2016 12:10 p.m. PST |
The Eureka figures are lovely but they are a bit too modern for that, I think. |
Tgunner | 10 Dec 2016 12:50 p.m. PST |
Chechen really. I've personally been very happy with the Battlefront figures. The fit the bill nicely and are rather inexpensive. I have the same complaint with the US troops: no M60. The SAW is too recent for Team Yankee and it gets no mention in the novel. The M60 was available to each squad though and should have been included. But it's not a deal breaker to me though. |

I wish they'd release a separate M60 pack for those wanting them, since they didn't include them in the sets. |

I find the BF TY figures to have a lot of flash and are kind of brittle. They do paint up nicely. Overall a 5 out of 10 but that's just my opinion. |

Khurasan are my fav atm.I built a TAliban force for a TY/NAm proxie army. The USA models are nice too. Qrf are tru scale 15mm and BF are 15mm Heroic scale. |
Navy Fower Wun Seven | 14 Dec 2016 12:30 p.m. PST |
BF for me every time, with a fair sprinkling of Peter Pig and Eureka for Russians. They are all compatible size wise. AA are noticeable bigger, as are Khurusan. QRF are very slightly smaller. |
GeoffQRF | 16 Dec 2016 5:59 a.m. PST |
QRF are nominally 15mm (meaning about 16-17mm overall). I'd suggest that anything bigger is rapidly approaching a different scale altogether… They also don't carry 30mm calibre rifles :-) |
