I am looking to purchase a couple of painting guides for the AWI. I am particularly interested in the southern campaigns and the various militia and state units that fought on both sides. I am hoping that my fellow TMPers can come through and steer me in the right direction. My only requirement is that it is still available for purchase and the price will still leave me room for miniature purchases. Thanks

Wargames Illustrated 265 would be a good place to start. (if a bit light).
I would be interested too in finding a good guide for both uniforms and flags.

Sorry, but there is no one size fits all here.
Start with Mollo.

The internet is probably your best bet.
Google images of AWI wargames figures and go from there.

Shameless plug….

King Mountain figures are specifically made for the Southern Campaign. Over Mt. Men and Campaign Continentals are available, as well as Highlanders in their Southern Campaign dress.
Take a look.

I do not know of any one source you can go to for the uniforms worn by American troops (including Loyalists) in the southern campaign. You will probably have to piece the information together from a number of different sources. Even then the best you might come up with is an informed guess which still can be disputed.

If you are looking for free, the best source would probably be the Don Troiani paintings that you can find on the internet. He also did a book Soldiers of the American Revolution, but I have not read it. There is also the Battle of Camden website found link Baccus has some information on uniforms you can access link and certain CMH plates are also available link

If you are looking for an inexpensive book that is readily available that provides a taste of AWI uniforms I would suggest Mollo's Uniforms of the American Revolution. It is however weak on uniforms from the southern campaign, or from the late stages of the war generally. Another option would be to purchase Osprey books for specific actions in the southern campaign.

If you are willing to spend more Katcher's Uniforms of the Continental Army is probably the best (and one I wished I had bought) for what Continentals actually wore. If you cannot find that Lefferts Uniforms of the American… was probably the start of research on deserter description of uniforms, plus it has some nice (B&W) plates.

"I'm having a clearance sale on packs at 20% off."

So then that is not on the individual figures I take it since you used the term packs. Or is it 20% off everything? Just want to make sure I understand it correctly before placing an order.

For you Joe (and everyone else) 20% on everything.

The Perry plastics box contains a pretty good uniform guide. I know that Super Max had a hand in it, so you can trust it.

The Southern Militias are very hard to pin down. Almost all wore civilian attire, mixed with Indian style frontier garb.

State Units are another whole kettle of fish.
