If any clubs would like to have a piece about them in an upcoming issue of Miniature Wargames, please feel free to contact me. We have a "Club Spot" in the mag where we detail clubs: how they got to where they are, their history, the games they play, when and how they meet and why members should join. If this is something that appeals, please drop me a line. John Treadaway Editor of Miniature Wargames miniaturewargames@warnersgroup.co.uk PS – Don't think that I'm only interested in UK clubs, mind you: I'd love to cross post this to locales further afield than the UK but TMP won't let me! |

The "Club Directory" is a dreadful waste of space in my opinion, but if you're going to persist with it then at least correct the entry for "Dice and Decks". Ross-on-Wye is in HEREFORDSHIRE, not Hertfordshire!!! |

Major B You see this is the sort of feedback I actually need! And – for a change – I'm not even being sarcastic! I will pass on the "Dice and Decks" mistake to the person compilng this: typos aside, however, this sort of direectory will only be as good as the input people (especially club PR people) make. I'd be interested in wether anyone else thinks this section is a waste (complete or not). Or whether it could be reduced (every other month? Once a year? sugestions please…) John T |

John, What are you looking for – a visit/interview, or just a potted history written by the club itself? As regards the directory, how about "regionalising" it (maybe to coincide with a major show in that area) and giving each region one or more issues per year? |

I agree the Club directory is a waste of space, perhaps it could be on the webite with a link in the magazine. |

Thanks for the input, all. Supercilius Maximus, largely as I said above: how you got to where you are, your history, the games you play, when and how you meet and why members should join. I visit clubs that I can but, to be honest, my schedule (and budget) doesn't cover me quartering the country, sadly! John T |

I think the club directory is a good idea, discovered details of a club in South Wales I did not know existed! Military Modelling used to do something similar in the 80's |

There's at least 6 or 7 in Lincs that I know of, but only 2 feature in the directory, which makes me think is it a waste of time printing it if all clubs can't be bothered to supply their details? |

…that may be a reflection of how few clubs have a member who buys MW. |

That could be true bobm. I game with three friends these days, two of whom were former members of the same club as me but we decided to give up going and just meet every week at our own homes instead. It's a lot cheaper and easier all round. As regards mags one of us buys MW on subscription, and we just share the mag round after he's read it. Same goes for WI (his sub again) and WSS (my sub). |

Printing a club directory once a year would be fair enough, but to do so every month seems a waste of pages that could contain historical wargame articles. If the contact details for a club change within the year, this could be flagged up in a brief note on an editorial page, rather than repeating the entire list. Surely these days most clubs have a website? and wargamers start their search for a club on the internet? |
