Hi all,
I'm wondering if there's a good set of rules for 28mm Napoleonic Skirmish gaming.

By Skirmish, I mean, 1:1 scale. Individual model activation. Not units or anything. I'm thinking Legends of the Old West or Lord of the Rings SBG style, single model activation.

Thanks for any info!

Song of Drums and Shakos.

If you like Legends of the Old West, there is a Napoleonic variant called "Voltigeur" out there.

Osprey's Chosen Men comes out this month IIRC.

Green Jackets & Voltigeurs
Sharp Practice from Too Fat Lardies

Not units or anything. I'm thinking Legends of the Old West or Lord of the Rings SBG style, single model activation.

Then Voltiguer is not for you.

2HW has 95th rifles. Very good.

I succefully played Nordic Weasel's "FiveCore" rules as a Napoleonic skirmish a week ago, and it ranks in as one of the best games I have ever played.

HI how many figs per player? I have a set you can try we use 6-7 per player with single model movement and shooting and so forth.

"The Beast"

Not units or anything. I'm thinking Legends of the Old West or Lord of the Rings SBG style, single model activation.

Then Voltiguer is not for you.

How so? "Voltigeur" that I linked is EXACTLY like LotOW or LOTR:SBG??

I'm sorry, I didn't check the link. I assumed you meant The mid-90's ruleset:

…Which I sold off some time back, and IMO doesn't fit the OP's requirements.

My apologies for jumping the gun, And thank you for the link as well!

If you don't want units/groups, then not Sharp Practice.
Song of Drums and Shakos would fit the bill.
On the other hand, if you don't have units, how different is a Napoleonic skirmish from a Pirate one or a French & Indian war one?

Another vote for Song of Drums and Shakos…

Fistful of Lead: Horse and Musket?

While I enjoy Sharpe Practice, it is unit-based :)
Also, Osprey's Chosen Men is also unit-based.

So Song of Drums & Shakos is individual model activation?

Voltigeur skirmish looks great, as I love LOTR/hobbit SBG!

The Beast,

Ah! Now I understand. I didn't know of that set of rules with the same name.

Cheers,
Ed

Song of Drums and Shakos is individual model based, but it does allow a group to be activated under certain conditions.

Yet one more vote for Song of Drums and Shakos. Very exciting single figure activation system, with realistic choices to make each round. Do I stand and attempt to reload? Do I charge into melee with an empty musket? Or do I run for cover, then hope to reload next turn?

Does anyone have a review of Songs of Drums and Shakos?

Thank you everyone for all your help!

Just want to add that like all Two Hour Wargames, 95th has rules for solo and co-op play against the game system as well as head to head play. Army lists are currently limited to the Peninsular War. Easy enough to figure out for other regions or we will produce more if there is enough interest.

@M C MonkeyDew,

wow, 95th looks great! Just read an AAR and I think I'm sold. I'll have to purchase it. Thanks, Bob!

Thank you! Let me know if you have any questions. THW Yahoo group or forum. I don't mind the forum but I am sure Ed would give me a shout if you posted there.

Oh. Here's an extra scenario for leading a forlorn hope against a fortress just in case you feel lucky :)
