No English foot regiment wore a blue coat. The Royal Horse Guards were a cavalry regiment and wore blue coats with red cuffs. |

Artillerymen wore blue coats. In North America there were infantry units wearing grey, green, brown etc but they were light troops and, as far as I know, none of these wore blue. As a general rule British line infantry wore red coats in SYW, as did most Hanoverian infantry. The Legion Brittanique (a Hanoverian formation, but one which was paid by the British) had two battalions in blue coats and they formed part of the Allied army at Warburg. The British did fight alongside Brunswick and Hessian units and their infantry were in blue coats. This is a useful site for checking details: link |

The Jersey Blues were a Provincial unit from New Jersey in the French and Indian War. There service included surrendering at Fort William Henry in 1757. They had a blue uniform faced red of a different pattern than that of the British infantry. It was a Highland pattern without lace or turnbacks. |

Also the Virginia regiment wore blue faced red. Each colony was to raise a regiment, several called for them to be in blue coats. How many of these regiments ever got uniforms is questionable. |
