… Image which sparked claims of Ancient Aliens. "The Wandjina are cloud and rain spirits from Australian Aboriginal mythology, commonly shown in rock art dating back approximately 4000 years. It has been commonly thought, particularly in UFOlogical circles that these Wandjina may represent alien beings, and there have been a number of threads on ATS regarding this supposed mythology…"

Or maybe they interpreted some event where the physical world 🌎 (where we humans live 99.999999999% of the time or more in some cases) and the non-physical world 🌎 which some call the "spiritual" world had a connection. We are "masters" (sarcasm) of reading motives into other people's actions so I suspect they/we put the event/events into the framework they understood. Just found an article – link – that tangentially touches that aspect. What ever you think about the columnist (agree or disagree) I think there is value in considering that we see their world through the dark glass of our 20th/21st Century mindset. Modern man either dismisses the myth as "lies of religious manipulators" or as aliens because of unconscious assumptions. We may be just as wrong in either of those camps. Just saying… I do not claim to have 100% accuracy in my own view. |

A friend of mine once tried to tell me that because alcohol affects them badly (in a psychosis kinda badly way) the Australian Aboriginals never played with drugs. I laughed at her. EVERY human culture that we know of has played with mind-altering substances. If they couldn't drink it (various fermented alcoholic beverages), they smoked it (tobacco or marry-joe-hoona) or chewed it (betel nut, coca leaves) – the Australian Aboriginals were no exception. |
