In the Osprey on the Battle of Pavia, it is mentioned on page 43 that the Black Bande of Giovanni de Medici was composed of 2000 pike, 2000 arquebusiers and 500 mounted arquebusiers. Can anyone verify if these proportions are accurate for any time in the Bande's history? also, would these pimen have been Swiss/Landsknecht or Italians? What would their costume have looked like? Also, is there any record of them having artillery?

It is set after Pavia but Arfaiolis thesis, available to download here: wrap.warwick.ac.uk/3099 and the book that followed contain a wealth of information and are a fascinating read.

It is by far the most detailed study of any formation from the Italian wars that I have read.

From what I can remember they were all Italians.
