Undercarriage. Up or Down? This kit addressed my dilemma. Produced 50 years ago, purchased by me thirty years ago, miniature game piece under construction today. Flight testing, minus the cowling, while that paint job dries. Trivia questions while it dries; 1) Manufacturer? 2) Scale? 3) Standard Base Size? Un-mounted pictures were photographed (archaic term, I know) after flight. Up or down? How do you want to display or use it? A miniature game piece with that kind of detail? I'd call it a scale model. Manufacturer? Did it not come in a box with instructions? How did you determine it was a Bf 109F? Scale? Measure the wingspan and do the math. Standard base size? Whatever you use with other similarly scaled aircraft that doesn't fall over. |

Unless you're doing "Take the Airfield", up. Does it match your 20mm? 1/72. Closer to 28mm? 1/48. Next would be 1/32. You're edging towards 54mm there. |

I prefer up as well. Wish more kits came with the wheels up option. 1/32nd is correct. |

Hello Chris, Funny, acerbic wit, by the way. (Unless it was meant meanly?) By definition, any scale less than 1:1 is a miniature or so I've been told. And some of the much smaller scale aircraft I've seen painted on this site are very detailed, which I believe to be a tougher task. The trivia questions were an attempt to jog the memories of really old timers who may have seen or built this model in their youth. If it can be mounted on a standard, moved across a playing surface and articulated in different attitudes, why can't it be called a game piece? Was it because I haven't modified the model to mount it? |

Retractable gear, moveable ailerons and elevators, 1/32nd scale, is it Revell? Although I don't remember Revell doing an "F" in that scale just a "G". Maybe it's Airfix? |

Revell. You are spot on. When I get a chance I'll post the box cover. |
