After painting the extra large hill from Gale Force 9, I decided to add a last hill to my desert terrain pieces.

The Extra Large Hill is here

So I now have a set of four hills

I painted the first ones to go with my Old West terrain

I nearly have the same set with static grass that I painted 6 years ago.

That is some great looking terrain!

Yep, it's great stuff…I'm ticked they don't make these anymore. I have a bunch of the badlands stuff for Old West use.

These sort of hills are oh so easy to scratch build.

Lots of materials to use:

MDF, hardboard, Masonite, thin plywood, Styrofoam, polyurethane foam, corrugated cardboard, spackling, Tetrion, rocks, gravel, sand, PVA glue.

Paint and flock to choice.

@JimDuncanUK : Easy to scratch build with such a level of details and a hit resistant piece?

I don't think that it is that easy. You can have some decent terrain pieces but you need more time and durable materials to have the same results.

I'm building a piece of terrain right now to use with Congo.

The base is piece of MDF and I'm sculpting some polystyrene sheet to represent some rock outcrops.

I'll blog the final result and I'll subject the finished piece to some normal wargaming wear and tear.

I think it will still be fairly easy to construct and will be durable in game terms.

Time will tell.
