Given the 75th anniversary of the bombing of Pearl harbor, I fully expected vary pieces of interesting history to emerge. But I must admit surprise at this article relating ho the first recon flight from Pearl harbor to try to locate the IJN fleet was performed by a mail plane:

It's very cool the plane still exists and will one day be restored.

Great story, never heard that before. With most of the other long range aircraft successfully targeted and destroyed, these guys were "lucky" that they and their aircraft survived the raid. And "lucky" again to be honored with the mission to go find the Japanese attack fleet.
