Now that I've taken a proper look through your blog, I see this remarkable output is actually the norm for you. This of course, makes it all the more remarkable! Keep buying the shoes for your painting elves! ;)

Terrific work on those Airfix figures. Very well done. Your infantry figures are excellent.

I do wonder, however, why you have such bright base colours? It detracts from your otherwise stunning painting.

Thanks all :-)

I want to get away from "realistic" basing for this Project and go more old School. It´s very tempting to create more up to date basing (flock etc)but as I have quite a few already painted it would be a ton of work to go in that direction. Same goes for the scenery..it´s going to be cheap and cheerfull.

Where are you getting the soldiers?

Pauls Bods12 Dec 2016 10:28 a.m. PST

Sorry for the late answer Clay. At Toy soldier fairs mainly
like this recent haul

If, and I´m not aiming at masses of troops, a couple of hundred will do, I do run out, I´ve Held back a couple of the marching poses (ones with no Flash etc) so I can try at casting some.

I still have featherstones little blue book valley campaign in 1862, he did with airfix soldiers. I've had that since 1974, I'm 57 and retired now, have thought about doing that (again) using airfix guys just to be different, and to remember a simpler time.

Do it Clay. Starting this Project has brought back lots of memories from way back when I first ventured into collecting and wargaming. Simpler days when historical accuracy was gleaned from the few history books that could be found in the library or failing that, whatever "historical" film had just run on the Telly.
The film Zulu re-enacted with airfix waterloo british infantry defending a plasticine sandbag wall against natives from the airfix Tarzan set. Great fun :-D
