What it says. "Imagi-nations" is historical for the purpose of this poll. A: I only play historical games. B: I only play scifi/fantasy games. C: I play a bit of everything. Any clever variation of "Akshually all our historical gaming is technically fantastic in nature" will be submitted to the lizard men for extermination when the reptilian-revolution happens. |

C. SF is the lion's share. Then Fantasy. Then Historical. (WWII) |
Garand | 01 Dec 2016 8:12 a.m. PST |
C. I like both. HOWEVER I keep them strictly segregated. I like SF/Fantasy, I like History (I have a BA degree in History!), but I don't like to mix the two, so no FREX Weird War II stuff (WWII is interesting enough without zombies or werewolfs!). Damon. |

Kind of with Garand in that I prefer the two to be sort of strictly separated though that's purely personal. |

John, I think the response is "well, he would say that, wouldn't he?" C, but leaning heavily toward historical. My fantasy armies tend to be funny-looking medievals, and my science fiction a way to play moderns without being overwhelmed by the rivet counters. (Say what you will about Napoleonics gamers being uniform-obsessed, but we do NOT go around insisting on different firing stats for Charleville and Tower muskets.) And as with several others, I don't like crossing the streams. My Napoleonic French are not going to find Baba Yar's hut in Russia, nor my WWII Germans resort to zombies. The problem is that once you start on that, I never know how much of what I already know is true. Better a clean slate. |

A: I only play historical games. B: I only play scifi/fantasy games. C: I play a bit of everything. What does / mean? I play a lot of science fiction games, but almost no fantasy. I also play historical games. I guess C is the most correct answer. |
Weasel | 01 Dec 2016 12:10 p.m. PST |
Glenn – I lumped together fantasy and scifi into one. Non-historical would have been a better term, but I wasn't sure if it'd be as clear then. |
