Bonjour Chaps,

Always wanted to get some of these for Normandy but unsure which ones to get.

I know that SHQ, Britannia and Frontline do them but which ones are best?

Being lazy I'd like something easy to build and being careful with my cash I'd like cheap vehicles too!

On top of which I'd want to be able to buy crews for them.

Your advice would be gratefully received.

Cheers,

Paul

Personally I like Britannia. One piece casting with stowage.

It's a fairly simple copnversion on any plastic Sherman.

I like the Cpl Overby Ram Kangaroos in resin. Two versions – with and without the Lee-style MG turret. Don't know how hard they are to get now…

Anybody know if these were used in Operation Jupiter or any of the other attacks on Hill 112?

Thanks!

Hi Chaps,

Some good examples there but I'm leaning towards the Britannia ones.

Cheers,

Paul

Emc – First used during operation Totalize in August. Jupiter was in July, so no.

Thanks, wrgmr1. Not any of the other Kangaroos, I presume?

I have a game that shows the 23rd Hussars or 8th Battalion, the Rifle Brigade, as having Kangaroos of some type.

I have several Frontline Ram Kangaroos, but I also use a Milicast Ram sans its turret to augment their numbers. Can't do the same with the Frontline Ram model as it's turret is held on with a small cylinder.

I have some of the Cromwell ones, now long gone, 1 Milicast and several Britannia ones

AuvergneWargamer, wrgmr1 and emckinney:

Salut!

The Kangaroos in operation Totalize, Tractible and some of the Channel Port operations were not Ram Kangaroos but "Defrocked Priest" kangaroos based on the M-7 105 SP How Priest hull. These Defroked Priests were first used in August of 1944 (Aug. 7th IIRC) for Operation Totalize. So no Kangaroos of any type were used in the July 1944 Operation Jupiter. Ram I and Ram II Kangaroos started to see service in mid-October of 1944 IIRC, but prior to that the Kangaroos were the Holy Rollers/Defrocked Priests. I don't know if anyone does these earlier Kangaroos in 20mm as I use 15's for WWII gaming.

Cheers and good gaming.
Rod Robertson.

Italeri's M7 Priest fast build kit had an option to build them as kangaroos link

Chaps

Thanks for the information.

Rod's input means that I'll need to get some Itaelri ones too!

Cheers,

Paul
