I had originally intended to get the Persians from Foundry but am worrried about the scale creep from the older Persians with the Steve Salah World of the Greeks range. Seeing my Athenians Greeks are painted, Spartanss are on the way, who can I get early Persians that will fit the same size? I don't see a plastic range of Persians. I find it interesting that the choices for Persians are limited. Are the old Immortal range match sizewise with the Foundry? Crusader? Thanks.

Not slamming on its brakes 18 inches from your nose it doesn't…then it looks #@*king huge!

Dreaded bug strikes!

Militia Pete, are you looking for smaller Persians? From memory Foundry still sell the old Perry Persian range on their site. They sell the newer Saleh-sized range from their Casting Room site. I have the latter, which are a very good size to match the World of the Greek minis (or, for that matter, Crusader).

It's a great paint job isn't it, very happy with it.

BigBat Red, Looking for the same as the WOTG size wise. I see Foundry has the Steve S Persians separate from the WOTG and they look later period. The Casting room is a fortune for 6 immortals….

Plastic Persians? Here is a rare bundle:

Yes the Saleh's are mostly later period. Casting Room are somewhat expensive but what else is a man to do when he wants larger Persians? There is a sale at the moment- 20% off IIRC.

Warlord Persians (the old Immortals?) are about 10% smaller than the Casting Room chaps.

Bit fiddily – arms to be glued on and quite flimsy spears. You might want to have a look at Old Glory as well.

Simon – put pressure on Victrix to produce Persians!

People often overlook the SHQ (former Newline) Persians.
They match up well with the older Foundry Persians.
Old Glory and 1st Corps Persians are also a good match.

You can seem them in my army here.

I have one unit of the Casting Room Persians. As a separate unit they are fine.

@Bandolier Were those SHQ you used large 25mm or close to 25mm? Very nice army by the way.

I am looking for some Persians to match up against my Spartans of Agesilaus (mostly Foundry WoG, Victrix and some Immortals) and am still scratching my head about which manufacturer to go to.

Bandolier01 Dec 2016 7:53 p.m. PST

They probably qualify as large 25mm. Definitely not the heroic 28mm size of the Casting Room figures.

Jeff Jonas summed it up well in his post (from my link) by suggesting that wargamers have to use multiple manufacturers to get the variety required.

ether drake01 Dec 2016 9:27 p.m. PST

Thanks @Bandolier. It's quite a challenge, especially since the Greeks I have are supposed to serve double duty as mercenaries for any Persian Army.

Were the historical Persians at all smaller of stature than the Greeks of the time?
