I posted a brief biography of Shadrack Byfield and a link to his book, A Narrative of a Light Company Soldier's Service in the Forty-First Regiment of Foot (1807-1814). Not often you get to read a view from the ranks. Especially one who saw such extensive service in Canada during the War of 1812.
