Hi, somebody has or know pictures about comparison between WWI figures by Irregular Miniatures and WWI plastic figures by Airfix, Revell, Hät or Pegasus? I would like to expand my collection with figures that do not exist in plastic. If somebody knows any metal figures manufacturer with WWI 20mm or 1/72 figures I will appreciate the information. Thank you. |

Most of my WW1 stuff is plastic, but I do mix in metal figures from IT Miniatures (or is that Tumbling Dice? I can never remember). The Irregular figures I have are gunners for the Really Useful Gun range who are a sort of intermediate 18mm scale. There is so much variation betwwen Airfix, Revell, Hat and Emhar that really you can mix any old metal figures in. |

hello i agree with Martin Rapier…there is so few uniformity between the manufacture..but at this scale..differences in height just disappear on the wargame table that said i completed my early WW1 Austro-Hungarian Army..mainly made of HAT plastics and my own Italwars 20mm metal range (specific for the Italian mountain front and quite small similar to 20mm Foundry from which i took my inspiration) with Irregular WW1 types..and they look very nice…the only thing that, in my opinion, must be taken into account are the horses..too much small..i suggest you, in case you also want cavalry for that period, to mount teh riders on plastic horses…and it 'll work…the MGs from Irregular are nice and well proportioned…the only rightly made Swarzlose HMG come from Irregular and his 2 pieces crew man aiming/firing the weapon is good….i also have some Belgians , including Cavalry and artillerist..and can suggest also those ones……the artillery piecees sold together with the crews are not, in my opinion, proportionate and look a little bit generic..maybe it's better to use the Hat range WW1 guns which have quite a few choices for the majority of nations… |

Historifigs (nee Scruby) sell 20mm and 25mm which match pretty well with 1/72 plastics. ( I listed both scales because they are not always entirely uniform in height or bulk.) They do not sell WWI figures per se (AFAIK), but their Franco-Prussian War figures are useful. |

I have the Irregular 1914 Germans and they really are nice figures – also work well with the Airfix veterans. I don't personally care for the MG's and have scratched mine from the Emhar late war sets with Airfix crew. The Hat Jagers are awesome, but noticeably bigger than Irregular – which is no problem as they are in different units anyway; they don't come with MG's so the same comments above apply to them, with a head swap involved. |
