I've acquired some painted 6mm vehicles and in several cases the interiors of the halftracks aren't painted a base colour – some of the detailing is done (e.g. seats or ammo racks) but the walls and floor are left silver or painted a silver-grey. These are open-topped halftracks, not ones with covers or roofs. From what I can tell from some Google Images searches, this wasn't the case for American halftracks, but was it ever the case for American halftracks in British or Soviet service? German halftracks? On the one hand, I imagine people might not have cared about the interior (at least until fighter-bombers showed up), but on the other hand, I imagine painting the whole thing in one go was pretty convenient. What about TD cupola, SPG interiors, or Lend-Lease jeeps? I have some of those also with bare interior walls too. The colour pictures of American TD cupola interiors are all painted, but not sure about anyone else. Thanks in advance for any help, Chris |

Everything was painted. I can't speak as confidently about lend-lease equipment, but more than likely those would be painted just like US equipment. German equipment was painted same base color as the exterior. The only exception were repaints after the transition to dark yellow; the interior was often left in dark gray as this wasn't so important to repaint as the exterior. Damon. |

It's the army – if it's not moving, paint it |

Interiors of halftracks, jeeps, etch. Should be painted, generally the same color as the exterior. The same with the insides of vehicle hatches. Land lease vehicles would be painted at the factory in the USA and then prepared for crossing the ocean. They may then have been repainted at their destination. |

I would be wary of words like always. Vehicle interiors were certainly painted, but not always the same colour as the exterior. Varied with different armies and vehicle types. |

Don't know about WW2 but in the 1970s and 1980s, the interiors (fighting compartments) of US Army armored vehicles were painted white while the interior of the trucks and jeeps were painted the same base green as the exteriors. Jim |

Thanks all. I figured it would most likely be painted and likely similar to the exterior, so I have some touching up to do. Was hoping there was an Easy Button to avoid doing them all. I'll likely have some colour variation anyway since I won't have exact paint matches, and I'll do some of the dark yellow German stuff with a gray interior. Grey even. |

i could be wrong but i believe there is the posibility of german half tracks being painted cream or white like panzer interiors. |
