I could use a gaming hat. Where is a good place to get one? |

Not since the Army made me wear a helmet. Hats are for outdoors. One of the really nice things about miniature warfare is that it takes place indoors. |

Goodness no! I have two hats, one is a sun hat which I rarely need at home and the other is a wooly hat which I wear when it is cold outside and I have worn it often this winter. I have central heating so I have no need for a hat indoors. I can't understand anyone who wears a hat indoors. |

No. I only wear my goofy hat for reading outside – goofy's nose keeps the sun out of my eyes. |

I have a great gaming hat. But, now I have a haircut that is way cooler, so no more hat. |

It depends on the game. Sometimes I wear the Samuri helmit. On occasion I will don the Pickelhaube. Or perhaps my leather flying helmet and goggles. Then there is that festooned.shako,l also fancy a kepi, nothing like a kepi to look dashing in. |

Agree with Tacitus – a proper gentleman takes 'is hat off when 'e goes indoors, and I does me gamin' indoors |

Per regulation and custom, hats are for outdoors -- with the following exceptions: when you are under arms, carrying the national colors or if decreed by your commander. While I have no gaming hat per se I have occasionally worn a hat while gaming (usually a game of Junta or similar RPG). Likewise as I am often under arms a hat would be appropriate. |

I've never found a hat that doesn't look dorky with long hair. I do own a Ushanka but that's about it. |
nazrat | 22 Nov 2016 7:25 a.m. PST |
No, but I do think it's ridiculous to say that they are only for outside. There is no good reason for that. Custom be damned! Give me a GOOD reason not to wear a cap inside and I'll not do it. |
etotheipi | 22 Nov 2016 7:36 a.m. PST |
I have a number of them and will sometimes wear a force or genre appropriate hat when playing or running a game. Regulation and custom vary from place to place and time to time and have different intents (even for the same standard of performance). Regardless of the custom, wearing genre specific clothes for a wargame is part of participating in the milieu. (Some people participate in some ways, others in other ways.) I would put that in the same category as why it isn't against regulation and custom for actors on an indoor stage (play or movie set) to wear hats appropriate to the represented milieu circumstances, not the external real world circumstances. I might wear this hat at a game … Jinkies!

I give 10 extra victory points in AK47 club games for a hat. Has to be in the style of the army you deploy though e.g. dictatorship, superpower backed etc etc |

Any hat I wear is related to the game I am or will be playing; a fez (for a TV/Film spy game), a Confederate Kepi (for a Major Dundee scenario), a fancy gangster fedora (for Mad Dogs With Guns in the Big City--note: I also carried a violin case with…accessories in it), a crumpled Indiana Jones hat (for a jungle pulp adventure), and a pagri/turban. |
Old Wolfman | 23 Nov 2016 8:00 a.m. PST |
I usually wear a bandana, and I have worn other headgear on occasion while gaming, aviator style leather helmet for air combat games, peaked soft cap for other battles, black beret when GM-ing a game, black slouch hat for ACW games. |
Parzival | 24 Nov 2016 7:57 p.m. PST |
Brown fedora that I typically DON'T wear while gaming (unless at a con, where there's no place to hang the hat). Ditto on my straw Panama Jack fedora, and my outback-style rain hat. I might wear my new costume WWI Fighter Ace hat for Wings of War/Glory play, or my R2D2-Mickey Mouse hat for X-Wing (if not my Vader helmet), just for fun. If I had a pirate hat, I'd definitely wear it for pirate games. I do like a good hat… |
