Just picked up the new osprey book, "The Thames 1813: The War of 1812 on the Northwest Frontier (Campaign)" on my kindle.

So far enjoying it very much. Nice illustration, good maps and order of battle and excellent bibliography. Text reads well and author appears to know his subject.

As a newbie on this I would like to hear from the better knowledgeable and well read on this. I ask since the recently Cowpens book from osprey left me very disappointed. I like this one very much and I hope you agree.

I pre-ordered my soft copy but it has not arrived yet.

If it is in the same exacting effort of Winkler's previous campaign series, it should good.

Other sources for the Thames battle are "A Wampum Denied", Feltoe's third vol Flames of War the Border and William Henry Harrison and the Conquest of the Ohio Country by Skaggs among others.

Well, I have enjoyed it very much. A good read and I learned a lot. Not sure if The Thames would make a good game. But love the figures for the American mounted rirlemen. And I would get a chance to use the 41st in a historical action.
