In our recent poll – TMP link – you voted this the war you were most interested in, but would never get around to! What's holding you back? |
NKL AeroTom | 19 Nov 2016 11:48 p.m. PST |
Nothing! I found the period so interesting I wrote a rule set for it and played a few games – both land and sea. One thing that might hold people back on the land wars is a lack of miniatures – Empress do some pretty good 28mm, but 10mm / 12mm is somewhat limited. Some from pendraken but not much of a selection… If anyone knows of some good producers around that scale – 20mm down to 6mm, I'd love to hear about them! |
Coyotepunc and Hatshepsuut | 19 Nov 2016 11:51 p.m. PST |
1) I can't afford to start a new period, either financially or temporaly. 2) if in doubt, reference 1) above. |
Shedman | 20 Nov 2016 2:59 a.m. PST |
There is a fair bit in 10mm from Pendraken – admittedly the range is an old one – I've done a list on my blog link I've fought battles with various rulesets – currently Bloody Big Battles is the ruleset of choice link Bloody Big Battles has excellent scenarios for The Yalu and Nashan on the Yahoo group link |
ChrisBBB2 | 20 Nov 2016 3:52 a.m. PST |
Bit of a circular reason for me: I haven't written BBB RJW scenarios because I haven't got the armies, and I haven't got the armies because I haven't done the scenarios. Happily what Pat and Alan ("Shedman") are doing is rectifying that and I am sure I will be dabbling in RJW before long. Chris Bloody Big BATTLES! link |

No one company making a complete range in 10mm or 15mm (for example several items not available in the Pendraken range, as I do not like using proxies as they are rarely 100% spot on). Still a nice effort by Shedman though! Lack of a good gaming resource. The chap who did some articles in The Courier some years ago was obviously a well informed person…if he could put together a wargamer's guide then I might be interested. |

I've probably got too many periods that I have figures for that I don't need to add another one. It's more likely to happen than some other periods I don't game. |
miniMo | 20 Nov 2016 7:48 a.m. PST |
The usual: Somebody else to paint up the minis and host a game! |
The Nigerian Lead Minister | 20 Nov 2016 8:18 a.m. PST |
I need scenarios and a rules set. I have a passing interest but without a lot of books for inspiration and scenario material I need help getting started. |
Garryowen | 20 Nov 2016 8:21 a.m. PST |
Nothing but ZERO interest. Tom |
Texas Jack | 20 Nov 2016 8:30 a.m. PST |
The naval side I do extensively, but unfortunately there are no 1/72 plastics for the land side. On plastic soldier review they list Caesar as having figures in the pipeline but who knows when they will be available. Red Box make Boxer Rebellion infantry for both sides, but these are older Red Box sets and quite poor. I will wait patiently I suppose. |

I have been able to see some of the battlefields for this war so would really love to game it. This is offset by reality with such items as cost, time, projects already on the go, etc are factored in |
abc wargamers | 20 Nov 2016 10:07 a.m. PST |
Sorry pressed the wrong button. Jacklex made Russians and Japanese in 20mm available from Spenser Smith. Pictures on jacklex.blogspot.co.uk under white coated Russians. Don't know how to do the 'link' thing |
Perris0707 | 20 Nov 2016 11:19 a.m. PST |
Another zero interest vote. |
taskforce58 | 20 Nov 2016 12:03 p.m. PST |
I only like the naval side of it, have a few fleet packs of Figurehead 1/6000 ships. No interest at all on the land side of the war. |
vtsaogames | 20 Nov 2016 1:37 p.m. PST |
I already have so many different periods. And my apartment is running low on room… |
Mardaddy | 20 Nov 2016 2:46 p.m. PST |
Lack of interest by anyone other than me. And I do not have fig's. |
rmaker | 20 Nov 2016 3:22 p.m. PST |
Nothing. I have gamed it and will again, both land and sea (which is why I didn't vote for it in the poll). |
21eRegt | 20 Nov 2016 4:53 p.m. PST |
I have interest, but absolutely don't need another project. |
ScottS | 20 Nov 2016 7:33 p.m. PST |
I am very interested, no one else in the area is. |
Doctor X | 21 Nov 2016 12:15 a.m. PST |
A complete lack of interest in this conflict. |
Ivan DBA | 21 Nov 2016 12:30 a.m. PST |
Dozens of projects and potential projects that I am more interested in. |
Wargamer Blue | 21 Nov 2016 5:25 a.m. PST |
Peter Pig has not done figures for it yet. |
richarDISNEY | 21 Nov 2016 10:47 a.m. PST |
No interest.
|
Winston01 | 21 Nov 2016 4:54 p.m. PST |
I am the only one with much interest though I can put together some figures and rules to use perhaps 1 other person would be interested but all the painting would be on me. I am already doing that for enough periods got to be realistic with time and money, though I really am interested in the period. |
pink panzer | 22 Nov 2016 1:33 p.m. PST |
Time. I've long wanted to game some of the land actions. |
Prince Alberts Revenge | 22 Nov 2016 4:55 p.m. PST |
A war that interests me a great deal, both the land and naval actions. Years ago I painted up some small armies in 10mm, figures by Pendraken. They looked good but not enough poses and these were some of Pendraken's older sculpts. I've been spoiled by their newer stuff. I'd like to do this in 6mm or 10mm for mass battles, the lack of a range that hooks me is one of the major impediments. I will ultimately get to the naval war, but have too many other prjects to tackle. |
Blutarski | 22 Nov 2016 7:02 p.m. PST |
A game based upon the Russian defense of 203 meter hill would be great IMO. B |
79thPA | 23 Nov 2016 4:58 p.m. PST |
Because I have zero interest in the period. |
mashrewba | 24 Nov 2016 10:52 a.m. PST |
I was thinking exactly the same as Wargamer Blue -when Peter Pig does it I'll be all over it!! I suppose the WW1 Russians would work but a dedicated range would be great. |
