I have found some references on TMP to the "new ancients game" from Greg Pitts in 2009.

Who published it?

Is it still available?

Any info would be appreciated

The rules were self published. There was a wargaming group in texas that was playing them and there was a website for the rules. however, the website seems to be gone. Contacting war game clubs in Texas may lead to further information or availability. From the information I saw years ago the rules used dbx basing.

They were rules done by Greg Pits based on Scott Bowden's systems and a descendant to some degree of Ancient Empire. The web site was thewarevent.com and besides Casus Belli they also were republishing Empire V. Seems to be gone now.

They were derived from Ancient Empires II, which used a d20 system, and were available freely from the yahoo group. The War Event was an attempt to make the rules a commercial proposition again by paying for online access to rules, lists etc, IIRC, but it was very early days and it hadn't got fully established. The author was a longtime member here, but after an ill-tempered exchange in which he responded angrily to criticism/baiting either he was banned or he quit. I think The War Event idea might have been let go after that.

I was a subscriber on their site for some time, but I never got around to playing the rules and now it's all gone. I remember being turned off in the end by the business model. It's a shame really, since I actually liked the original Ancient Empires.
