Thought this may be of interest to some of you. It is a collection off prints showing the fronts of the buildings in Philadelphia (PA, USA) from the 1850's to the 1880. There is a large selection of 1850's prints. They show a whole block at a time.

You may not wish to do a whole city but if modeling a town it may prove useful.
