I thought you might be interested in seeing some pictures of Sarissa's 28mm Wild West/ACW MDF train and rolling stock which I am in the mindst of building.

Very nice. I've been tempted by that myself. Lots of scenario options with that!

From what someone had posted about this when it first was released is that the coupling system is European and so would not work for an American train of which this is suppose to represent. When I contacted Sarissa about it the person who replied back stated that it was true but that they were just doing a generic type system.

Dexter Ward17 Nov 2016 4:26 a.m. PST

People worry about the coupling system?
Good grief.

Disco Joe17 Nov 2016 5:38 a.m. PST

Dexter, accuracy is important. I am sure those in the UK would not want a European train with American style couplers.

Dexter Ward17 Nov 2016 7:08 a.m. PST

I'm sure most people don't know or care about the coupling system. I certainly don't.
It's a train with a cow-catcher and a big funnel, so it will do for Wild West or ACW.

Maybe you don't care but you would be surprised the number of people who do care. Read the posts on tmp. People care about the number of buttons on a coat for a particular period uniform.

As an accurate depiction of an ACW locomotive and car it comes up short. As a relatively inexpensive wargame prop it should be adequate.

We compromise all the time in our hobby to me it it is about the feel of the game.
So I am with Bill N about it being an affordable prop.

We're wargamers, not railway modellers :-).

Bill N17 Nov 2016 3:41 p.m. PST

Speak for yourself Henry.

Charlie 1217 Nov 2016 8:11 p.m. PST

Same for me…

Henry Martini18 Nov 2016 3:47 a.m. PST

Allow me to rephrase, then: we're wargaming, not railway modelling :-).

TurnStyle19 Nov 2016 3:21 p.m. PST

It's terribly inaccurate. Trains weren't made out of MDF.

I'll gladly buy one.
