I'm looking for a set of big battle rules to do Gettysburg.

I do have Altar of Freedom, and I'm definitely going to try it out. I've also looked at BBB.

I was wondering about Volley and Bayonet, but don't want to pay a fortune for the apparently rare ACW supplement, unless someone gives it rave reviews.

So – is is worth tracking down? And can someone tell me how big a table the Gettysburg scenario is?

There are lots of VnB scenarios on Keith's site.

There is also a yahoo group with plenty of resources.

I ahve the old ACW supplement and it is very good but I wouldn't pay a fortune for it.

I'll have to look tonight when I have a chance. For some reason 6x9 sticks in my head.

I really like BBB and use it to game army level ACW…however, I did not think BBB captured the feel of Gettysburg (mainly because of the short day/turn ratio). I do VnB a 2/3 scale (2X2 inch bases) which makes most big table battles possible. As far as the VnB supplement, I personally would just create my own scenario, there is just too much info about that battle to warrant buying a supplement just for that…IMHO of course.

Old Glory has the ACW supplement for $18.00 USD retail or $10.80 USD if you are an OG Army member.

6x9 is correct. I've played in the Gettysburg scenario 3 times and ran it twice. It's a great scenario and with the road column rules, really captures the progressive build-up of the battle. I've got an updated OoB by Greg Novak somewhere in my files. Shoot me an IM and I'll send you a copy.

Many thanks for the replies. I'll pick up a copy from Old Glory.

I've got an 8 x 5 table – hopefully trimming it down a bit won't be a deal breaker.

My table is 5x9; I think it is possible to fudge a little or play the missing width as off table.
