You say halfway done, what are you building toward?

vagamer63 Supporting Member of TMP14 Nov 2016 7:50 p.m. PST

Those fellas look too good to be fighting men!!!

Looks can be deceiving though as the old saying goes!!!

Even at the halfway point it's a force to be reckoned with no doubt!!

Scoman14 Nov 2016 8:52 p.m. PST

Hmmm going out to man cave to throw mine in the bin. Bleeped text. Awesome work.

Im working on them to be Hauptmann Otto Herrmann's 5.Kompanie, II./FJR6 in Normandy, as well as being a useful generic FJ force for gaming.

Awesome stuff and that Barndoor is just ace.

Who makes the figures?

The figures are a mix of;

AB Figures
Grubby Tanks
Battlefield & Blitz Miniatures
Foundry
FAA

Distressingly wonderful. I thought SWMBO's 28mm Falschirmjagers looked really brilliant until I saw theses fellahs.

Larry R15 Nov 2016 6:14 a.m. PST

We are not worthy!

PrivateSnafu15 Nov 2016 7:10 a.m. PST

Nice work. You need a higher percentage of splinter for Normandy?

Griefbringer15 Nov 2016 7:21 a.m. PST

That's a honking big anti-tank gun they have emplaced in the middle of a shrubbery – 88 mm PaK 43 I presume.

nazrat15 Nov 2016 7:23 a.m. PST

It is indeed! Piers work is always fabulous and can be seen on their equally wonderful forum The Guild. Highly recommended!

Not really, seems an awful lot in pictures wearing the old plain bonesack, and it also makes recycling them for early engagements easier. A mix of uniforms is more applicable to a wider array of periods of the war for me.

What should be present, for FJR6, is the helmet camo paint scheme that they 'mass produced' and was peculiar to them in Normandy.

Gee whiz, those are superb!

Beauties! The variety is fantastic and really makes the unit.

What colors did you use for the camo smocks? I've been tinkering a little but haven't found a setup that looks really good without needing to be hit with a filter…

wrgmr115 Nov 2016 12:39 p.m. PST

Beautiful work Piers!

PrivateSnafu15 Nov 2016 1:51 p.m. PST

Thanks Piers, the plain smock gives me hope for someday finishing my Normandy guys.

Disco Joe15 Nov 2016 2:02 p.m. PST

So then none of it are 28mm or 1/56 then?

uglyfatbloke15 Nov 2016 2:38 p.m. PST

I know what you mean Joe. Depressing is n't it? I'm going away to weep bitterly in a dark corner….again.

wrgmr115 Nov 2016 3:47 p.m. PST

UFB, you and many others who've drooled, at Piers work, wanted to do better and failed bitterly. Myself included.

krisgibbo15 Nov 2016 3:53 p.m. PST

Very, very nice work and great inspiration for me to complete my 15 mm force. I did it with a view to the Normandy campaign and Italy and have just done the Nb W 35 teams. There's a good split between green and camo smocks, and some have the three colour camo painted helmets ( Can't do the decals though!).
I have the base models for my Pak 41 s and thought that this would be all I had to complete. Now I have two another question to answer.
I had wondered about the image shown in the Osprey Warrior book of FJ with an 88 mm and I'm sure they describe as a Flak gun ( Can't get at my books at the moment though!). But the breach looks like the Pak 43 on a cruciform which is the gun you have. Do I need a couple of Pak 43 s for my force?

PiersBrand16 Nov 2016 6:16 a.m. PST

Who doesn't need a Barn door or two?

uglyfatbloke17 Nov 2016 2:41 a.m. PST

SWMBO has two Char Bs painted by Piers and she reckon they should be +1 for everything due to having better paintwork than anything else on our tabletop – even her Falschirmjagers which were very nicely pained by Alba Studios.

alcal5024 Nov 2016 2:29 a.m. PST

The FJ`s kept there green jump smocks until they fell off as it was a badge of honour as the war went on to have been around when they were issued.

They look superb piers.
Cheers AL
