During the Crimean War, RA cap bands were gold for sergeants and red for the gunners. By the 1860's, the bands had changed to yellow for the gunners. Can anyone tell me in what year the bands changed? Specifically, I am painting two gun crews for the Indian Mutiny, but since I would also like to use them for China and New Zealand I am not covering them with a pugri. Was it the Dress Regulations of 1855 or 1861? |

In case anyone is interested in this minute detail, this regulation change is from 1861. So, if you were to show the forage cap under the pugri during the Indian Mutiny, the cap band would be red, not yellow. |
