"Story is set in the 10th century Kievan Rus! After the death of his father, Svyatoslav I, ruler of Kievan Rus, the young Viking prince Vladimir of Novgorod (Danila Kozlovsky) is forced into exile across the frozen sea to escape his treacherous half brother Yaropolk (Aleksandr Ustyugov), who has murdered his other brother Oleg (Kirill Pletnyov) and conquered the Viking territory of Kievan Rus. The old warrior Sveneld (Maksim Sukhanov) convinces Vladimir to assemble a Varangian armada, hoping to reconquer Novgorod from Yaropolk and ultimately face the mighty Byzantine forces. One of the most expensive movies ever made in Russia took almost 5 years to be made directed by famous Russian director Andrey Kravchuk!" YouTube link Amicalement Armand |

Tango, when you said "Viking trailer" I had a vision of a viking longboat towing a dinghy filled with loot. Instead, it's just an ad for a movie. |

Now if it just comes to Netflix. Why is it Russian historical movies always feel grittier and more realistic? Could it just be we're so jaded with Arthur and his ilk? |

It certainly looks good, but I wonder if this is a piece of Russian propaganda as Vladimir is a symbol of Ukrainian nationalism? Anyway, I'll see it if it ever gets a general release in the UK. |
