So, a week ago I was taking the dog out after starting the dishwasher.
I went down cellar to find the floor leaking and dripping down on one of the shelving units I kept most of my painted soldiers.
Disaster!

I moved all of the drawer units to my gaming table after shutting off the water.
I called my usual plumber who was tied up making oil deliveries.
He recommended another guy.
He came over.
Poked a Roto Rooter through the pipe which went right through.
"You got a problem."
Yup. I did.
He came back the next day.
Looked at the pipes. "They look about a hundred years old."
Close. The house was built in 1919.
He hinted that cash would be a lower cost than a check.
I took the hint.
Cost me around $500. USD

And this, Ladies and Genylemen, is why I have been lax and tardy, for the second batch on a row, with delivering on stuff I have sold. I also had to cancel a Glames of War campaign game last Sunday.

I thought there was no damage to figures.
Sadly, while putting 3 drawers units back on the shelves which I moved to a different wall not under pipes, I found that the top tray of a big unit had been flooded. I thought I had checked everything first but apparently not. A whole tray with a bunch of Soviet Flames of War weird units had muddy water in it.
All the flocked stands had a slime mucousy blob. Sigh. Time to get a few quarts of 90% isopropyl alcohol from Walmart.
But now I have a lot more room.

Glames of War? Spandex and Glitter?

^ my first thought, too.

John, water damage really sucks. I had a storage unit get flooded a few years back, it is amazing how just a little water can completely destroy paper products…

Luckily it was mostly a half painted drawer. A BIG half painted drawer.

That sucks. Good luck with the recovery.

What a nightmare! I guess I should be really glad all my stuff is upstairs with no water around…

I had a sewage back-up years ago that washed away oodles of books, boardgames, and assorted stuff. I'm glad you were able to minimize the damage!

My game room flooded 3 times. It sucks. Lot of stuff lost.

While my gaming things were not affected, we had a similar issue with thte upstairs toilet losing its 105 year-old lead base gasket, sharing its joy and happiness with the dining room downstairs. Again, not a cheap fix. I feel your pain, John.

John, maybe you have invented a new kind of "wash"? The figures don't have to look as intended, if they still look good? I wish………….
