So, a dual-purpose project: (1) spice up the Doctor Who Risk board game, and (2) get me some 15mm Doctor Who minis for bigger games than I can do with my 28mm ones.

How many daleks, the ones that fit to 20mm (the yellow orange ones) do you get in the game? |

63 pieces in each army: 42 small, 15 medium and 6 large (5 armies). So 75 20mm daleks assuming the 20mm ones are the medium pieces. link Second link shows the different sizes of dalek. link |

That must be a different version. I only got the small and the large. The rules are written with only the 1's and 3's. I'm probably going to sell off the extra 20mm and 15mm ones, cheap, like 2/$1. You would certainly get more for less if you buy the game. But if you don't want a giant army, both sizes, all the other stuff, and to invest ~$40 in it, it would get you a good sized Dalek army for 15mm or 20mm for cheaper than your other figures. |

According to Boardgamegeek there were two editions, so apparently there slightly different content between the two editions. Looking at the board in the picture, that appears to be a second edition. Sorry for any confusion. |

I just got the game with the two sizes (I think maybe it's a North American edition), I plan to sacrifice a bunch of the orange ones for classic Dr. Who in 15mm, with one of the big ones as an Emperor. That still leaves me four sides to play the Risk game itself, and once painted the others can be used still. |

Boardgamegeek seems to have the details of the first (UK) Edition with the 28mm (roughly) sized large daleks. The UK version seems to have red stars on the box and the US version seems to have yellow stars on the box (and different rules, new board and less daleks). |

Also I should say I liked this idea (and totally missed this game on release) so thanks to etotheipi for the idea as I purchased a copy of the UK version based on this topic. |

Risk (MB? Hasbro? AH? IDK?) has actually done a good job of "branding" variant games with genre-relevant mechanics vice "skinning" them with the outward trappings of an IP. I hope you enjoy how both the TARDIS (I consider the companion mechanic to be part of the TARDIS mechanic) and objective mechanics give the game a theme flavour. Also, I didn't mention in my little WIP article, but all the versions I have (only a few I didn't like) also play "classic" Risk as a subset game. Elegant. I didn't like either Star Wars attempt (just me, mind you) and wasn't intrigued by the Star Trek one, so I don't have those. I need to get Risk Europe (Medieval Europe – I think I already have the minis covered!) and Plants vs Zombies. Both seem to have good mechanics … now I just need … well … funds. |

How big is the Tardis that comes with the Dalek Risk boardgame? Would it also work for 15mm gaming? Thanks – Mez |

Mez, not sure how big the Tardis is on the outside – I am however sure that it is bigger on the inside. |

it is bigger on the inside. Dammit, you scooped me! :) How big is the Tardis that comes with the Dalek Risk boardgame?Would it also work for 15mm gaming?
I think it is just right for 15mm gaming and maybe acceptable for 18-20mm gaming. YMMV There is a pic of a 15mm modern figure standing next to it in the article. |
