I answered this ad on TMP for "professionally painted western figures. TMP link Here are the first 4 figures that I unwrapped: [URL=http://s222.photobucket.com/user/nevinsrip/media/IMG_2837_zpsyu3w0fdv.jpg.html]

A LITTLE knicked up??? The horse has NO TAIL and the rider is glued to his rear end??? At this point, we are engaged in a Paypal dispute. He claims that someone open the box and glued the rider in a different position and that these are not the same horses that he sent. Even though he has the same picture in his original ad. Both boxed arrived in perfect condition. There was no breakage in transit. The unpainted figures are fine and in the same packages he sent them in. I will have no dealings with this person in the future. |

That sucks. Looks like he did a decent paint job but then messed up -- a combination of not giving them a matte coat to protect the paint and/or crappy packaging. |
Cardinal Ximenez | 11 Nov 2016 6:57 p.m. PST |
They look pretty beat up in the original ad. |
Stosstruppen | 11 Nov 2016 7:15 p.m. PST |
Yeah the missing tail horse and rider are in the pictures you link to. Nothing changed there…. |
Morning Scout | 11 Nov 2016 7:16 p.m. PST |
Sorry, but it looks like you purchased exactly what was shown in the link you posted. The figures in the original sale post seems to look just like the figures you received. If I am missing something please enlighten me. I will give some pause to the term professionally painted, but perhaps they were at some time and have just seen better days. |
nevinsrip | 11 Nov 2016 7:42 p.m. PST |
The original ad pictures are blurry to me and I can't tell. I took his word about professionally painted. |
79thPA | 11 Nov 2016 7:44 p.m. PST |
I agree that they are not "professional" figs, but the mis-mounted fig, chipped paint, bent parts, etc. are very evident in the advertising pics. |
Striker | 11 Nov 2016 8:02 p.m. PST |
Too bad about the whole deal. I have to agree with 79th PA, the 1st and 3rd pics would have given me pause on the condition of the minis. The 2nd pic is a big blur and the 4th is practically black. |
nevinsrip | 11 Nov 2016 9:09 p.m. PST |
Photobucket was all screwed up that day. I have done dozens of deals with TMP members. I take people at their word, here. Professionally painted means something, doesn't it? |
Hafen von Schlockenberg | 11 Nov 2016 10:12 p.m. PST |
It means someone was paid to paint them. |
Karnophage | 11 Nov 2016 10:21 p.m. PST |
I have no idea why you bought them in the first place. The pictures showed that they were all chipped up. |
Doctor X | 11 Nov 2016 11:25 p.m. PST |
You should still be able to return them regardless of them looking exactly like they did in the advertised pictures. |
Silent Pool | 12 Nov 2016 12:04 a.m. PST |
Looks like a case of Sold as Seen, to me. If you don't like them or you don't want them then you should be able to return them for a refund. (Are you sure you don't want to get your paintbrush out and do?) |
paintingden | 12 Nov 2016 2:49 a.m. PST |
He really should have just put "sold as seen" and no refunds and must people who paint figures for money never use the word "Professional" Saying that from the photos you can see what state the figures are in. |
Gnu2000 | 12 Nov 2016 3:58 a.m. PST |
"Professionally painted" is no guarantee of anything… |
charles popp | 12 Nov 2016 6:33 a.m. PST |
Oh look he violated the terms of Paypal and his word as per his email he sent me. I sent him pictures as you can see. There where over 20 figures that where unpainted never opened in the package. There where 30 aprox painted only 15 where ever taken out of the wrapping from the painter(CGR) I sent pictures as shown. The rtotal for all the figures including S&H was $85. USD That comes to around $1.8 USD per fig less than the cost unpainted. After his complaint I offered to refund 1/2. He then responded that all the figures where junk and broken. I then asked for pictures of everything to veryify. He refused. I then told him to hold onto everything as I was going to file a claim with the USPS and correct the situation. His response was I want my money back, then I will give you your figures. At that point I initiated the PayPal dispute because there is no way I am refunding money without the figures at least being in the system back to me. If you look at the figure on the horse you can clearly see in the picture I took he is on horse correctly ,in his picture he is not in the same condition. Something happened. I was operating in good faith. He did not even give me 2 days to file claim with the post office as you can see. His email posts are edited for his benifit here is the entire email he sent me i, Apparently our definitions of "professionally painted" are not the same. I have sent pix of the first 5 figures that I unwrapped. After these, I stopped. The second box arrived today are will remain unopened. Please refund my money and I will return these to you. I would like to keep this civil so I am giving you a chance to make good before opening a Paypal dispute, which I will win just with these few photos. Anyway, I suggest that you take a good hard look at what you sold as professionally painted" figures…..Bill here is one after I asked him to keep everything and I would refund half unwrapped everything as you asked. It's all junk. I am filing a paypal claim for a full refund. NEITHER PACKAGE WAS DAMAGED IN ANY WAY. This is what you sent. If you persist I will post pix on TMP showing what you sent….Bill Nice to threaten. This as of Nov 7 . In that time frame I reviewed pixs he sent me you can as well the figures just by looking at the one mounted fig look tampered with. I initiated the claim to protect myself. He is the one threatening and bringing this public. I am trying to make it good but he has refused to show me what he considers junk . He says all yet he is only showing 3 pictures one of which has clearly been tampered with. Also the amount I sold him was way way below market price. |
nazrat | 12 Nov 2016 7:36 a.m. PST |
Price is no defense for awful figures like these. |
charles popp | 12 Nov 2016 7:46 a.m. PST |
hey, I did not switch anything I was up front on the condition with the pictures and that is only part of them not the entire lot |
chuck05 | 12 Nov 2016 8:59 a.m. PST |
The figure on horseback is not glued correctly. You can clearly see that there is a gap between the saddle and the horse.
Your pictures in the original sale post werent very good. You should have been more upfront on the condition of the figures and never referred to them as "pro painted". Those painted figures are garbage and would take much more effort to make them good again than your "bargain" price was worth. Why not just return his money? You get your figures back and the customer is happy too. Find another buyer for your figs. |
StoneMtnMinis | 12 Nov 2016 9:07 a.m. PST |
This is a no win situation for either of you. I believe these were listed on the Surplus Wargaming group on Yahoo. Figures should have been described as "sold as-is". The pictures should have given you an idea of condition of the figures. This said I would try to work out a solution in which both sides are equally dis-satisfied or satisfied, but the problem is resolved. BTW, PayPal will usually side with the buyer in a dispute of this nature. |
charles popp | 12 Nov 2016 9:10 a.m. PST |
I am fine with returning money just not with his caveat of my money then you get figures |
charles popp | 12 Nov 2016 9:17 a.m. PST |
chuck05 so a price per fig less than bare metal is not a good price? |
charles popp | 12 Nov 2016 9:26 a.m. PST |
plus there is a quite number that are painted that have not been opened. No pictures because I did not want to rewrap. Now once I get them back if anyone wants them they can have them dirt cheap. |
Oh Bugger | 12 Nov 2016 9:48 a.m. PST |
A salutary tale on both sides. They were in poor order as is plain to see and "sold as" would have been better as a description but I see no deception from the seller. Unless of course you believe 'professionally painted' has any substantive meaning beyond someone trying to make a living. |
charles popp | 12 Nov 2016 9:51 a.m. PST |
Like I said not all are painted only a small portion are chiped. I no longer want them when I get them back if any one want them let me know . other wise in the garbage and I dont want to do that As I siad I did not want to refund without protection. The oh send me my money then I will send you your stuff back makes me stop. I had to protect myself |
chuck05 | 12 Nov 2016 10:07 a.m. PST |
Ive had many dealings with Nevinsrip over the years. He is a good and honest man. If he says you will get your figures back you will get them back. |
nevinsrip | 12 Nov 2016 10:22 a.m. PST |
Paypal ruled in my favor. I will send it all back Monday with a return receipt. |
Hafen von Schlockenberg | 12 Nov 2016 10:24 a.m. PST |
Don't throw them away--I predict these figures will become famous. |
charles popp | 12 Nov 2016 10:35 a.m. PST |
I fully expected to refund as I offered just not with the caveat of money then I will give you figs back |
John Thomas8 | 23 Nov 2016 12:17 p.m. PST |
I have these figures now. Less than an hour with a paint brush and they're fine. Anyone know of some 1:1 gladiator rules? :-) |
charles popp | 23 Nov 2016 6:25 p.m. PST |
yup I got some if you want them |
Henry Martini | 23 Nov 2016 8:20 p.m. PST |
This just keeps popping up. |
Nick Pasha | 26 Nov 2016 9:17 a.m. PST |
When send painted figures to a customer I either pack them separately in a jewelry bag, or wrap them in tissue paper if I want to put more than one in a bag. I also spray all figures with a matte finish for protection. If any of my own figures show some chipping or are not as detailed as I want because they were painted in my earlier days, I either repaint them totally or repair the imperfections. I inspect each figure before I ship or sell. At conventions, I sell the figures as is and leave the decision to the buyer. |
John Thomas8 | 26 Nov 2016 6:09 p.m. PST |
They were wrapped fine. The six pictured above where the only ones "damaged" and it took less than an hour to fix. The other 33 painted figures did not require any touch up at all. |
