I have started up a blog blackshawgaming.wordpress.com with my views on dice and mini storage options. I do quite a bit of WordPress work including changing the CSS and PHP code. This is a simple effort using the free WordPress.com host. It all seems OK, reasonable bandwidth but with a limited array of themes and plug-ins. I had to use the Google calendar. I have also been playing with updating it through the IPad app. It is handy to have the photos and the back end interface on the same screen. I had to do some tweaking on the browser interface. One encumbrance is that the app takes a while to upload the text to the screen. I quickly got to a stage of my typing being way ahead of the screen refresh. Next test, how does the anti-spam engine hold up? My usual plug in for this is not available. |

Great post. I like that the really useful boxes have a reenforced bottom that doesn't sag under the weight of the lead. |

Another fan of Really Useful Boxes, even if not quiote as easy to obtain in the US (UI usually order mine). Re: the new blog itself… Commenting? Following? |

I have put comments on hold then manual approve. I am also hoping that the Askimet engine will pull out some of the Spam. I do have a commercial site that relies on quality comments. That took some work to build up. This is a much more low key affair. Does anyone follow blogs? Following Twitter streams just gets you swamped. |

Good post. One Thing about the biccy tins. I did the same (strangely enough with the same red tins you´ve used and for the same reason) but the minis got mold on them..I advise (if you havent already) putting either holes in the tins or added one of the anti-damp sachet thingies |

Interesting post. I've had problems with the Really Useful boxes losing corners with impacts (and even in the post) so I'd never buy any (again) that I have to get delivered. I now store everything in KR boxes and have never had trouble with either the boxes or the contents*. Dice? The cost of them, compared to the cost of nice figures, scenery, rules and other necessary paraphernalia, is not something that's ever bothered me, I have to confess. Dice cheaters who swap out ones with logos on the six for logos on the one for leverage? I just don't play with people like that** John T * well, no problems with the cardboard ones, anyway ** not twice, anyway… |

I like your blog- good post. Clickable pictures would be nice though. |

When using the full stand-alone Wordpress install images are by default clicakable to show the full size image. I cannot find this option on the wordpress.com web front end implementation. Fear not, I have switched to html view and coded links so the images are clickable to show the full image in a new tab. In some cases there is not a lot to see as the pictures were taken in my garage. Still lesson learnt and new posts will be clickable soon after uploading. |
