Those who have discovered the miniature hobby in the 80-90' will remember this game from Steve Jackson, an epic sci-fi game in 6 mm with various units but which also requires some strategy. This Kiki campaign reissues plastic miniatures for the OGRE game at a price very affordable.

Back when I travelled a lot I'd take a $3 USD copy with me where ever I went.

Ogre is a great game.

Ogre miniatures are nice too.

But, Ogre miniature rules don't satisfy my wants for a miniatures game.

It should be noted I am happy to play the miniatures on the hexboards, it's just the free movement on terrain I find less than satisfactory.

I will probably get because those 3d card Ogres and buildings don't quite cut it. That box, though, that's a problem. It's doing service as an end table right now.

As I said on another thread. If the models are the same size of the original OGRE MBTs, APCs, etc., pieces. They were a bit too small IMO for actual 6mm. And of course ORGE Infantry was @ 10mm(?). So many of the models are not generally 6mm or 1/300 / 1/285 … But they were made for the OGRE game, and the game is not scale dependent. Which is not really a problem …

Yes, we enjoyed playing original OGRE. And their was another similar game, made by SJG, IIRC. ICE WAR, ? Similar AFVs, Orbital Weapons Platforms, etc., It took place in in the Artic, IIRC. We like that too. I have that in my game collection … somewhere … grin

Veteran KS'er here. The campaign will easily hit over 70k.

The last 3 days of a campaign typically bring in a bit more money than the first 3. Many potential backers wait to see what the actual final deal will look like.

The early Stretch Goals are actually all items that were planned to be in the box to begin with. Putting them out as SGs just helps keep the campaign interesting for early backers to watch. Everything up through 70K was clearly intended as actual final contents of the box. 75k+ are the real stretch goals.

KS funding on minis projects goes in an inverse bell curve. Kicktraq projections are linear, and do not track minis projects well at all.

We are 12 days in and 12 days to go on the campaign right now. Current funding is just over 47k. Standard projections put the total at ~100k on closing bell. But, Steve Jackson Games has done KS before and knows how to run a campaign with bringing out very shiny StretchGoals near the end. Ogre Designer's Edition did much stronger in the closing days than in the opening days. So, my quick thumbnail handicap puts 100K as the minimum, 125k high.

Darn you Mo!! There you go making sense, using historical data and experience. Now you have me all excited.

You're welcome Moe!

And I did my good deed for the campaign today by suggesting the printed gaming mat over in the Comments. My good ideas in these campaigns always wind up costing me more money…

Moe the Great19 Nov 2016 5:12 p.m. PST

I'm sure you'll cost me more money too…

Thanks!!

nukesnipe23 Nov 2016 7:44 p.m. PST

They're talking about Mini Set 2 now…. ;-)

Shadowcat2023 Nov 2016 8:34 p.m. PST

Interesting offer Moe, but I think I will keep it. Got it for around $20 USD From SJG and the last time I saw one on E-bay it was selling for over $300 USD.

Hmm, I failed to look at the calendar for my mid-campaign handicapping. They did launch this campaign a week too late. KS contributions for just about any project from Thanksgiving day until Jan 15 are pretty dead. The reality of other holiday spending, and immediate gratification with online deals, wins out.

Will still spike up in the last 3 days. And we'll get a boost when we hit the real 75k stretch goal and folks toss in some more money to get the green set.

Should we fall short of 80k, there's still a good possibility they'll add the GitD Ogre as an add-on to buy in the manager after the campaign ends.

Personal logo miniMo Supporting Member of TMP28 Nov 2016 10:29 p.m. PST

Well, when they finally added a bucket o minis pledge tier for the miniatures campaign, contributions spiked and made up for the post T-Day depression. Might still crack over 100k.

And archaelogical expedition to the basement has confirmed possession of two Ral Partha Mk.III's and one Fencer!
