Hello Peeps!

Had a really great Wars of the Roses game at Battleforge today. 28mm Perry figures, 4ground buildings, and Peter Pigs 'Bloody Barons' rules. We set up the first battle of St Albans, using the scenario in the back of the rule book. Paul took the attacking Yorkist forces, I defended the town with the Lancastrians, led by Henry VI. The Yorkist army troops approached cautiously
Their job is to rescue the king ( The saintly Henry VI) from his evil "advisors" .I.e. Isabella the she-wolf of France – his legal wife, and her putative lover Somerset Great game, lotsa swearing, laughing, heads in hands with 'noooooooo' The Yorkists got stuck in fast, with Somerset leading a successful counter attack in the centre, but paying with his little metal life! It was carnage on both sides in the streets of St Albans, eventually fighting to a bloody draw. Great game, really enjoyed it, thanks Paul, and Tim Battle for letting us use the tables at the Battleforge shop in Lexington, Kentucky.

At first, I interpreted the acronym as War of the Ring, so things didn't make sense for a minute.

That's a nice looking game! What have you used for your game mat? I really like the look of it!

It was just one of the tables at the gaming store, thats all I can say, sorry!

Isabella?

Huscarle11 Nov 2016 7:09 a.m. PST

Isabella was Ned II's wife, methinks John meant to say Margaret of Anjou?
Nice looking battlefield & figures, although not quite the St Albans I used to know grin

Very pretty models. Love the dead guy and horse…….

Oops, wrong lady! Lol. The dead guy, is part of the Old Glory casualty set, great little set, and casualty bases are part of Bloody Barons, as Morale reminders. Martin, love the rules, are you part of the PP set-up?
Thanks for the nice comments, guys.

Where is the Tonman Ditch? Why aren't the Lancastrians in the centre of the town at the beginning of the game?

MajorB11 Nov 2016 3:02 p.m. PST

John meant to say Margaret of Anjou?

Margaret of Anjou was not present at 1st St Albans.

Not sure anyone said she was there. They were just deciding who Henry VI's wife was.
