Discovered this wonderful gem on a recent visit to Barcelona – the books are outstanding and for anyone with a modicum of Spanish/Catalan – pretty readable

Thanks for the link. The artwork is phenomenal and sparks the imagination. I particularly like the last glorious charge.

Very nice, is that snow in the sea on the first plate?

No Roger, probably just the way the light is shining. That was a massive moving image display behind the model of the city

Els Exercits de Catalunya is excellent. I have it, read it a couple of times and I can't recommend it enough.

Absolutely agree with basileus66.

Very thoroughly researched and with lots of love and work behind them. I have the privilege to personally know the authors of those books and can't stress how much good they are. The pictures were done by editing photos of reenactors and using them as models and are by themselves awesome works worth the purchases.

Another privilege I have (and am very proud of) is to have been one of these reenactors and having been used for some of those pictures back when I reenacted the Spanish War of Succession (in the picture captioned as "The Bourbon bombardment of Barcelona" it's me playing the officer; ironic as I was then sergeant major in the Catalan troops and as such I'm featured in a good many pictures of Catalan officers).
