They look very fine.

Whoever mounted the same horse pose twice on each base just wasn't paying attention.

Great figures, beautifully painted.

Yes, it was mistake when the figures were mounted but there are 2 different horses in each pack. Doh!

The Pathans of the NW Frontier were mountaineers, and consequently had no cavalry, however, many plains-dwelling Afghan tribes kept horses and fought mounted.

The broad, flat turban on the top right figure looks more Maratha than Afghan/Pathan.

HM interesting posting…but have you find any evidence that some plain Afghan tribesmen saw action during anyt of the NWF campaigns?….personally i did'nt find nothing..but i would be happy to know they did…for the sake of historical autenticity of my toy armies

Afghan tribesmen certainly raided across the border from time to time, and the British did use cavalry on the NWF, so I suppose it's possible… but no, I have no direct evidence of such incidents.

There is an account of Josiah Harlan ( the real Man who would be King) at his acclamation as Prince of Gor and Hazaristan in 1839 having two thousand native horsemen under his command.

And, of course, it gives you an opportunity to legitimately fly Old Glory over your Afghan/Pathan forces during a game of MWWBK.

At the Battle of Ahmed Khel, 1880, the British column was attacked by "a mass of some 2,000 horsemen" – Brian Robson, The Road to Kabul.

Yes gentlemen, but neither of those places was located on the NWF of British-ruled India.
