Just goes to show, you can't win 'em all…

Sam Mustafa wrote a tounge in cheek article about game design years ago in MWAN referring to the fictional Napoleonic rules "The Glory of Glory." I was always rather fond of that.

One little known fact of history is the loser gets to name the wargame rules, hence WW2 rules have German names and Napoleonics have French names, I believe this was established after the War of Jenkins Ear.

For a real contender, in my search for AWI rules, I found "Howe's About that, then?"

I'm amazed that nobody has mentioned "Kiss Me, Hardy".

Wasn't there a game or book called "They can't hit us from way over th.." or something similar?

Extremely corny but also very funny.

"They couldn't hit an elephant…"

TFL's ACW rule set. The title's taken from the Famous Last Words of an ACW general.

I always wanted to do an ultra-simple game titled "rules for stupids" as a sort of self-deprecating thing, but I always shied away as it might not come across well.

Wow! Thanks JTM, I've never been a contender before! Is there a prize?

If so, I have other offences to be taken into consideration namely:

Just Deserts (WW2 western desert)
Home & Colonial (campaign rules for Howes About..)
FUBAOR (FUBAR mod for Cold War)

Weasel17 Nov 2016 11:06 a.m. PST

Just Deserts is corny..and wonderful :-)

Henry Martini17 Nov 2016 2:58 p.m. PST

FUBAOR? Clever… not corny.

You've perhaps never heard of It ain't half hot Mum, the classic 70's British sitcom, which the game title is obviously a take on?

I would wager a great many gamers are not familiar with a specific sitcom from over 40 years ago, no.

Henry Martini18 Nov 2016 4:23 p.m. PST

The lardation of that title is comedically clumsy, anyway.

Jefthing20 Nov 2016 11:07 a.m. PST

Would 'Are you being straffed?' work better?
