So for the last ten days or so I've been in my annual Mighty Armies army building/planning cycle, working up some roughly WHFB-ish army lists, and to fit particular types into MA, I have some changes to traits and one new one to run by people.

Weak – I've said this a few times in MA discussions, I like this 1st edition trait and keep it around. Good for Halfling militia, goblin hordes, and cowardly generals.

Javelins – this is from MAA and I like it for well, javelins, but also "grenades" (which can include globes of poison gas) and a few other things.

Short Range – this is all me, but I'd like to have something other than standard and long ranges for slings, pistols, flamethrower-ish devices. This is simpler than the LR trait, just 3" of firing range and it halves the cost of whatever Shooting level you've bought. I may apply it to artillery too (6" range), once I start thinking on specific examples. You could also use Javelin or Elan for pistols I suppose.

FWIW, I use 2nd Edition rules but use the 1st Edition army builder someone house-ruled on the old MA forum to calculate points and build the units. I'm also looking to use some of the house rules posted here on fixing the Shooting rules (disruption rather than kills).

Thoughts? Any other traits people have come up with?

I wouldn't mind seeing more options for Generals, but haven't put anything together.

Chris

One other thing I'm looking is using 2d3 for activation points, no real change to the average, and avoids the 1s.

I bought two pairs of matching d3s last month just for this, royal blue with gold numbers for the good guys, evil black with red numbers for the bad guys.
