Just saw Warlord's Q and A with Rick Priestly (BTW he doesn't look well; I hope he's okay). Is this being played widely? Is it immersive? Fun? Different enough from 40K to pursue?

I can tell by reading the rules alone that it's quite different from Wh40k. I can't vouch for immersion or fun aspects (as I don't play it or in fact anything else and was never one to get really "immersed" in a game anyhow) or its popularity or lack thereof. Some folks here in Finland seem to be playing but I don't think it has a significant local player base compared to, say, Inifinity -- and even if it did, it would mean nothing in the big picture.

It is far more like Bolt Action than 40K (although there are differences).

I bought the ruleset and have read through it but not tried it yet. Something about the races more than anything puts me off. I guess I could use the rules for other forces, not that there is a way to point them up yet (that I can find).

I liked them. My comments can be read here:

ABHSurfer, yes, that is a difficult issue with Antares. The background has been deliberately set up so there is absolutely NO connection with Earth and the people are human only in terms of their genetics. All knowledge of their origins or past history have been lost. It makes them hard to identify with (as I found out when I was hired to write a short story for the forthcoming Gates of Antares anthology!) Still, if you look at it the right way it is fascinating.
