Baruk Khazâd! Khazâd ai-mênu!
Hello All,
In pursuit of a HOTT Dwarf army I ordered samples from 4 different 15mm manufactures. The miniatures below come from Splintered Light, Demonworld (Ral Partha Europe), Eureka, and Battle Valor. I have below the stock Dwarven warrior mini from each line.
I found the quality of each company to be excellent. You will not be disappointed with any of the manufactures. Of course, I did this to answer the classic question…
"Does so and so miniature go well with that guy's minis?"
You will notice that the Eureka miniatures are really 18mm, they look great but they are big. Splintered Light is slimmer and had more natural builds. If I can say that over a 15mm fantasy race. Both Battle Valor and Demonworld are the same height as Splintered Light but are much bulkier. Imagine the old Warhammer srtyle Dwarf. Battle valor a little greater than the Demonworld line.
Splintered Light are one cast, so are Demonworld with small heater shields, Battle Valor come with separate shields which are not in the picture. Eureka is styled around a slightly later era and their ground troops do not have shields.
The boxes in the pictures are one quarter inch.
In conclusion, primary based on the HOTT basing requirement I will use Splintered Light. I hope to use the others to make a 15mm individually based army for Dragon Ranpamt.
Please enjoy
While not in the classic Tolkien image of a Dwarf army; I did get some Dwarf cavalry units as you need a nice balance for HOTT.
