As many of you know, for the past several years, the HAWKs have run special kids' games at each Historicon, where each child leaves the game with two complete painted armies, and rules, terrain and game aids; so they can go home and game with their friends and family.
For an article on last year's project see: bucksurdu.com/blog/?p=5408
where we gave away a dozen WWII armies.

This year, we will be doing a 15mm Franco-Prussian War project, based off a large donation of FPW figures we received. We are short of a few things, so wanted to put out a call for folks who would like to donate. While we could use any 15mm Franco-Prussian War figures anyone would like to donate: infantry, cavalry, or artillery; we are particularly short of French artillery (need about 12 guns and crews), and Prussian Cavalry (need about 40).
We would also appreciate donations of suitable 15mm terrain.

Anyone who is interested can contact me through PM, or at: cnjpalmer at aol dot com

To expand on Chris' post, we have just one mitrailleuse and could use a few of them.

Really nice idea!

Chris/Duncan,
I don't game/collect Franco-Prussian figures, but would be happy to try to track some down or order them. Any preference of manufacturer/distributor? Any more specifics on specific Prussian cav figures or French artillery pieces needed. Could also just send a cash donation to help out.

This is a link to a great site with free buildings that can be printed out on card stock

Ember52- Thank you for the offer! Hopefully Duncan will be along with the figure specifics, as he is heading the FPW project.

Major Mike- Thank you for the link!

Guys, Would a monetary donation be possible? You guys help us out with T4T all of the time. I'd be happy to support your cause again.

Santa Moe.

Moe-
Thank you for your offer! I will say up front that we have no dedicated Armies for Kids account that folks can despot to directly, as it is very much a less than formal undertaking of the club. If you wish to donate, you can send money through my PayPal, or send a check. I'm very serious about the accounting for donations, and can give you my word that all monetary donations will go to providing material for the Armies for Kids project.
If you are still interested, please PM me.

Sadly, I have no artillery. I do have a number of French and Prussian infantry and cavalry – majority are old Minifigs.
French Dragoons & horses: 4 painted, 8 unpainted in package
French Hussars(busby)& horses: 12 unpainted w/cmd
French Line infantry: 36 unpainted loose w/6 command, 24 in package
French Grenadiers/Guard: 33 unpainted loose in various poses, 10 command
Prussian line infantry: 48 unpainted in 2 packages

I had started the FPW period but then got distracted to Italy in 1859. Almost, but not quite the same uniforms for the French.
If interested, drop me a note – hughandval at Verizon dot net

TMPTMPTMP-

Thanks for the offer! Yes, we would be interested in your figures. I have sent you an email.

Ember52-

I haven't forgotten your offer, I've been trying to get in contact with Duncan to have him get you the specific info.

Khan11 Nov 2016 8:13 p.m. PST

Well nothing so far. You may want to check the spelling on your email address

Chris/Duncan,
If it would simplify things, I'd be happy to send a check like Moe is planning to do. Just let me know the particulars -- name and address for check.
Thanks!
Scott

TMPTMPTMP-
Hmmm…I copied what you typed directly, and just replaced the "at" and the "dot". Could it have gone in your spam folder?

I'll try again. If you don't find anything, perhaps you can try to make the connection from your end to: cnjpalmer at aol dot com

Ember-
My apologies for the delay. We just needed to finalize a few numbers last night.
I'll PM the info to you now.

TMPTMPTMP-
I received your email, and sent a reply.

Got it, Chris. Thanks! Will place the order in the next few days and forward to you as soon as I deceive them. They'll be unpainted, because my eyes and hands can no longer handle much painting, especially 15's.
If you could PM an address for mailing the figs ghat would be great.

Guys, are you using 15mm buildings? Do you want unpainted buildings? How big might the "towns" be in terms of building numnbers? Only French or general European style?

Gamers, it is what it is. I liked Historicon being close to me for once. It was nice. It will be nice in 2017. If I can afford the costs associated with driving to northern NJ I will try to do it. Obviously Lancaster is much more feasible to me. So if two shows are in or near Lancaster I won't be too unhappy. I'm sure the costs will increase but what can you possibly do if the venues, which have to hold a lot of people and game tables are not available in mid PA or not cost effective. We have been through this before. So as vets of con moves let's take it easy on each other. Everybody has an opinion. But everybody that felt like it voted for the BOD to take on this responsibility. I say since the last HCon move I would rate them A-, B+. They got an F before that in my mind when the Baltimore and Casino situations came along. Not all their fault. Hardly anyone on the BOD now was there then right? So what's the big deal? They are trying to represent us and give us what we want. We all like to debate and God bless us, as Americans, we just reaffirmed that right. As I said I would like to go at least once if I can afford it. The BOD has my support on this because they are trying to do their job and I believe they are being as fiscally responsible as they can under the parameters available. I have fond memories of the Host despite the claims of gangrene in the hallways. I also have the t-shirt with the list of past conventions which I will proudly hang on to. Good luck to our BOD and best of luck to you all and take it easy on your blood pressure. Remember it's all small stuff, as they say.

Maynard-
Yes, 15mm buildings. Unpainted or painted, either is fine. Probably nothing more than a cross road of 2 or 3 structures per 6 players. General European would probably be fine; 10 year olds aren't as fussy about that type of thing. :)

That works, Chris. Oh, and I don't how another thread which I was on ended up here. It followed me like a dog, I guess.
