I have always been hearing people asking for 15mm modern Chinese vehicles, so I went ahead and made some. I actually have them up for sale on the marketplace but was not happy with the pictures I took so I tried taking them outside and they look much better. I found some scans from an Asian student working for Norinco and was able to convert them into an stl format that works on my 3d printer. So here are some pictures for people to see. I did type 99 tanks and WZ 551 afvs, they are all 1/100 scale. I also did a T72 Russian MBT in 1/56 for 28mm and I have already posted some pictures of it but I thought the blue plastic color would be off putting to folks as well as not really showing all the great detail that came out so I primered it and took another picture.
I did them as a platoon of tanks and a platoon of vehicles as the information I have found is that the Chinese use 4 afvs in mechanized formations and have stuck with 3 vehicles for their tank platoons. Here is a picture of the T72 in 1/56 primered.
I am really excited by what I have been able to produce with my 3d printer. I do have files for other modern vehicles that I can scale up or down. 1/56 is as about the largest I can do and have the models fit in the machines work area. |

Sweet! What's the Z-axis resolution on the Printrbot? |

I went with .2, I can dial it down to .06 however but it takes a LONG time to print at that resolution. |

Might want to do the T72 turret in a higher resolution, the print lines are bad. Hull looks fine at .2, though. |

I think they all look pretty good! |
