I thought I'd share some a WIP. 40mm Voltigeurs from Sash and Saber. I'll have another group with tall plumes once this is completed. I've used 3 different colors as the coat base since I couldn't get a good idea from the S&S site. One is Vallejo 899 Dark Prussian Blue, 2 are 965 Vallejo Prussian Blue, and the last 2 are GW Caledor Sky. At this point I'm leaning toward the Caldedro Sky for the next group.

Nice figures. Prefer a darker French blue myself. Particularly in this scale. |

I agree, nice painting but darker blue is better, although I have painted French this light in the past, I have had trouble find a good dark blue out of the bottle, using a GW one at the moment. |

Thank you. So it sounds like I should go more towards the Dark Prussian Blue (figure on far right). I'll update with additional progress. |

I think using that path of colors from Vallejo is a mistake:
French indigo is navy blue lightened up to a gray or purple – no matter what effect you want to describe, you can't get to a sky blue from there. Bad dye lots don't do it, sun doesn't do it, wear and tear doesn't do it. |

Flashman, Do you have another suggestion for a color? I've got a P3 Exile Blue that may also suit. |

The Andrea blue set is good – the darkest shades work well for French Blue. Flashman that is very good photo to use as a painting guide. |
