The Mamneouver Geoup authors (us)were setting up a new board for the RECON show in the UK this week. It was an improved version using some new "standard" village bases. Having set it up it up, the new version has the makeings of a really good scenario gsamr st the club possibley over a couple of evenings. We then spaent a happy hour or so looking at the possible ways to attcak/defend againt a raid of say a BTR 60 company with some artillery support, or even a US Marine company. The defenders would have a platoon active with maybe one pill box (Bunker in US terms. Note due to the road sizes we automataicaly set narrow roads to a 15 tonne limit. The defender will not get heavy stuff (tanks ect.) on the narroe roads, too many issues on the way.
Is this this part of your fun? Certainly to us it is and it does come as some ammusment when we set up a board for an evening and don't put models on at the club. We do spend the evening discussing the scenario and possible strategies. Its much harder for amatures to do this on a map. Maybe why real commanders go in person to see the terrain they fight over.
Here is a couple of pic of the board, 2.4km by 1.8 km (8ft by 6 ft) so If you have a plan/scenario can see join in.

sorry we forgot the bride between the villages but it will not be a massive structure.
There is a whole post about the compromise between visual and playable large structures like bridges.
PS river counts as 1/3 contour down and uncossible by vehicles and troops. But troops can use the near bank as hard cover. Vehicles can exit at the Industrial whearhouses.
