Are there any decent hoppy shops for wargamers near Heathrow that are open Thursday evenings?

If by hoppy shops you mean pubs, probably, but I assume you mean hobby shops? There are a few further into London but I'm not aware of any near Heathrow (we're not blessed with hobby shops)

'Tain't all that near to Heathrow but as luck would have it Orcs Nest opens until 7PM on thursdays.

Google maps reckons you can get there in one hour by public transport.

'Tis true we ain't well supplied with hobby shops (t'other than GW).

T'ain't right, t''ain't fair, t'ain't fit, t'ain't proper. But 'tis the way 'tis.

to get there by public transport implies using the very expensive Heathrow Express both ways and then the Tube.

To get there by public transport just get the Picadilly Line tube from Heathrow to Leicester Square and take a short walk

David – not if you are trying to do it in the hour that google maps reports it can be done in!

According to my London tube app the journey time is 53 minutes :)

For Fantasy and SF gamers (and Bolt Action) there is Dark Sphere also in central London near Waterloo Station. Open until 19.00. Leicester Square (for Orc's Nest)to Waterloo 5 minutes and three stops on the Northern line then 10 minutes walk to the shop (London's biggest gamingstore

David, you are correct. It must just be my perception of hours trundling towards Heathrow when in a hurry (still, with the walk to the Nest it pretty much becomes an hour). When I visited Dark Sphere recently I was very impressed: good prices, all the Star Wars Armada range (which was the reason for my visit); a different mix from Orcs Nest.

By Tube you could get from Heathrow to Waterloo in just under an hour. So you could get to Dark Sphere in 10 minutes from Waterloo. Also as you mentioned Thursday evening, the Exiles club play on Thursday evening in the basement of the Crown & Cushion pub. The pub is literally around the corner from Dark Sphere. More on where we are, and what we play can be found at link . Why not combine a visit to Dark Sphere with a game at the Exiles? We would even buy you a drink or two.

Ezza123 that sounds like a nice offer. I may take you up on that depending how my flights go.
