SESSION 39: MAGOR IS DEAD!!!

The party realise that they are pretty low on resources and pressing on to finish the orcs right now is just as likely to result in their own deaths.

Halee looks over at Thomas. He has taken the head off Magor and has thread a piece of twin through the orc warlords jaw, which he has tied it to Baby Cords tale. As the crocodile skittles around the room the head of Magor bounces in a mad pattern behind the little reptile.

Risandor, Halee, Thomas and Asmara come together to quickly discuss the plan. "Do we attack the rest of the tribe now?" Risandor asks.

Asmara answers "Well I've got no healing left and whist physically we're not too bad off right now we don't really know how many orcs there might be. Taking on 10 of them might just see us quickly getting overwhelmed. They're so deadly."

"Agreed" nods Halee, still rubbing her head from where Magor had struck her and knocked her unconscious. "Let's go back to the Keep and rest for a few days and then come back and finish them off."

Only Thomas want to go on. Risandor tries to reason with him, "Thomas, but we were nearly killed. I practically shook hands with Cord."

"And besides," add Uthalin, "after a battle like that I need a drink. Let's go back Thomas. You pick a strange time to get brave" adds the stout dwarf. Eventually their arguments sway Thomas and he agrees to go back with them.

The party quickly loots to room. They find 695gp in various coin pouches and gems and Risandor casts Detect Magic on the room and discovers that Magors' mace and large shied are magic.

They make their final preparations and head off with Ansic and Uthalin leading the way followed by the rest of the party.

Into the valley they quickly make their way through the woods and onto the main road to the Keep.

The trip is thankfully uneventful and they arrive safely a few hours later. As they approach the small hamlet they can smell roasted pork and hear the familiar and friendly sounds of merry people enjoying themselves at The Salty Tusk.

As always Eldred Hester is there to greet them.

The bar keep is so happy to see his friends again and he welcomes them with open arms. "Karla, please make ready for our friends and go and fetch Karleigh would you."

Karla motions off and a few minutes later down the stairs comes the little Karleigh. She runs to the group and hugs them all. Shocked at how they are covered in blood and gore, she starts to weep that they are all back and safe.

The party settle in and begin to rest.

After that encounter the party has the following party equipment (whom anyone can use):
- 2 caltrops
- 1 tanglefoot bag
- 1 acid flask
- 2 flasks of oil

There are 5 potions of healing (every character except Asmara has one) and one vial of anti-toxin which Halee has.

Total loot from the expedition is:
- 10 falchions
- 11 sets of ears (including Magor)
- 716gp from the orc bodies and Magors' room
- Magic mace
- Magic large shield
- 1 set of Chain Mail armour

All the characters, except Asmara, have accrued enough experience to go to second level.

The party have killed 10 orcs and 1 orc warlord for a total of 1,950 or 244 per character or 122 per NPC.

Total party member xp as follows:
- Halee 1,954 + 244 = 2,188
- Ansic 1,954 + 244 = 2,188
- Risandor 1,774 + 244 = 2,018
- Uthalin 1,774 + 244 = 2,018
- Thomas 1,774 + 244 = 2,018
- Men at arms 349 + 122 = 471
- Asmara 338+ 244 = 582

Halee updates her map and journal.

Guys a couple of people have emailed me asking if they could make some relatively minor changes to their characters as they progress to second level.

That, for the most part seems cool given none of us were able to coordinate our characters before we started.

So if you'd like to change a feat or a skill or two let me know.

I feel though that characteristics need to stay the same.

Just let me know when you email through the details of how you'd like to level up your character.

All, Risandor is going to be able to scribe scrolls after levelling. He suggests 300 gp of the treasure to be invested in 12 scrolls he can produce in 48hrs.

To be more specific, in 48hrs Ris can create the followibg scrolls, or variations on this:

2 cure light wounds
2 grease
4 sleep
2 enlarge person
2 colour spray

This is based on his bard spells (2 per day) and his new wizard spells, which will also include moment of greatness and adhesive spittle (yes, Ris will be able to spit tanglefoot bags15 ft).

What do you all think?

Mardaddy31 Oct 2016 2:27 p.m. PST

Halee is supporting putting out 300gp of group funds for scrolls (providing we have 300gp in group funds to spend.) The scrolls become group possessions, usable by any who have the ability to use them (though I would not recommend anyone try unless Risandor is knocked out.)

Asmara backs that too. The more we can stack the deck in our favour with magic the better…!
