Just finished a couple of playtests for the recent Napoleonic rules Over The Hills. I found the rules to be very solid in concept, easy to understand, and very smooth-flowing on the tabletop. The full review is on my blog:

Has anyone else given these rules a spin?

Nice report, it's good to have an idea of what these rules are like, being an old Napoleonic gamer myself. Our group plays Shako 2, with Chris Leach co-author amongst us. We've played large 6800+ figures and smaller just a few hundred, with this set. It never gets boring.

Yes, we have had a few games, enjoyed them and now busy painting Russians!

Yes….a very solid rules set…..Shako 2 is a system that I've always wanted to try but never got around to it…need to get off my tail and give it a run-through.

Thanks, very clear and helpful rules review.

Thanks again for another great review. It made me go back through your blog to red your other posts. Did you find the frontages to be compatible with C&G2? I have mine based in such a way as to play either C&G2 or Shako2.

All of my figs are based for CG2 and Naps Battles……definitely can be used for Over the Hills….pretty flexible basing requirements…..thanks

The confusion between morale, numbers, casualties and maybe fatigue has been used and overused in rules already, thing say NPOW.

Nice review – thanks. They seem to cover the sort of things I like in a wargame.

Every time I see that cover….I do a double take.

that is not the late great David Bowie on the front is it?

Madmac6401 Nov 2016 6:50 a.m. PST

David Bowie was obviously a rifleman just prior to his first album……
