I see QRF have a new, nice looking but incomplete Carlist War range. I rather fancy doing this one and have two questions. Who else makes Carlist War figures in 15mm? Which figures from other ranges can be plausibly substituted for Carlist War soldiers? Thanks in advance for any replies. |

The QRF range is a new one on me – I hope they expand it Warmodelling did a range – a google search shows that they may well be stocked by Stonewall figures in the UK link It was a reasonably complete range including French Foreign Legion. for alternatives in 15mm have a look at Steve Balagan's excellent site link |

Thanks Shedman, yeah the QRF one sneaked up on me too. Marketing failure in the making there which is a shame as they look very nice. They do need to expand it and I would be interested to know how far they intend to go. Certainly the Isabelino command and Carlist cavalry are a must. I had a look at Steve's excellent site earlier. Irregular have a British range in Bell Shako which could be good for the BAL. |

I didn't know about those either- good find. |

It does look good so far and QRF mostly complete ranges to at least a workable degree. I might drop them a line as to timescale for the rest of the range. In the mean time I cannot see any harm in getting a few battalions of Carlists. |

The Spanish company Fantassin became WarModelling became Capitan and is now Battle Models. It has been a long slog to get the molds etc. sorted out after an ownership change. Stonewall is now doing their casting, so all of their ranges should be available again in the coming months. Their Carlist Wars range is very, very good, but it is a "big" 15mm or what they call 18mm now. I stock them here in the US tough my stock is pretty depleted: ScaleCreep.com |

Carlists has long been a secret love of Chas. This range will be expanded. |

Yeah I have some Fantassin Napoleonic big castings right enough. |

Ah Geoff! Good to hear from you. Are you able to tell us any more in terms of what and when? |

ERM has a small early 19th century British versus Arabian Peninsula pirates range. The British figures should be usable for the First Carlist War. |

Yes in Bell top shako. Steve Balagan suggests them as marines I think they look pretty good. Just ordered a bunch from QRF, maybe get some Irregular tomorrow and the Perry book is on its way. I think I'm in business for the Carlist War. I'll use FOB, 14 units a side and I already have the terrain. |

I heard back from Chas at QRF and thought some of you might be interested in an update on their Carlist War range so this is part of what he said. "We intend to have the Cristino command – and flank Companis, in production within a fortnight. These will be followed by Carlist infantry. The intention is to have a range similar to the old 28mm rang that we used to make some years ago, so we will be doing French and British Legions, plus cavalry and artillery and possibly the Portuguese too." I presume Chas means Carlist cavalry in line 2 as the infantry are already available. He also mentions buildings as part of the range. Good news all round I think and we can probably use the British legion for the First Opium War. |

That's good news, I have the Conrad Cairns book and would love to put together some armies in 15mm. I was going to use the old Fantassin range but if Chas is goInf to flesh out this range I would prefer QRF. |

It surely is PAR. Also there are some nice figures in the QRF Mex-US and British in India ranges that can be used for added variety with no problem about size compatibility. |

I now have the QRF figures and they are very good indeed. I'd say mid point between Essex and OG in size, crisp clean detail. Money well spent. |
