All, I would like to do the Malayan Emergency in 54mm. I want to use the Airfix Austrlaian set as a base, but I'm nt sure I can carve the Aussie slouch hat into a proper bus hat. ANy ideas? |

This probably not what you want but i do have two suggestions. First, you could carve the hat off of the head entirely and then use glue infused tissue paper to make a few dew rags. Second there is nothing wrong with standard helmets if you are doing regular GIs. I know some guys wore their boonie hats with both sides tied up and on ocassion I wore my helmet on top of my boonie hat so maybe that could work too. Just a thought. H go cubbies |

There was no such thing as a "Boonie Hat" during the Malayan Emergency. |
